it is different than the VTEC you are used to. There is no crossover where the valves open more, rather it is with using less valves to save gas. 8-12-16 i think it is. I cant remember

so this is no new style motor... one of the trims for the 95 hatchs had the economy vtec... damn well i guess that explains alot... in mine it seems like a powerband kicks in at 3,500 to 4g

yeah, i can sometimes feel the little bump in power. BUT, i don't think the fit is a good straight line car. it was made to hug the turns! :P

It was made to get 30+ MPG. It's ability to handle the curves is due more to it's low weight and fairly stiff suspension than anything, but it's no WRX STi or EVO in that it's not designed for sports car handling.

Variable valve timing (regardless of what it's called) will become more and more common, and it can be tuned in any number of ways by the factory. If you wanted a performance car you should have considered an Si or some such animal. Be happy for what the Fit is, and that's a versatile economy car.

The VTEC system in the L15 is a 12 valve-16 valve operation. Much like the VTEC-E of the HX. The exhaust valves are fixed and the intake goes from one valve to two depending on rpm and load. Sorry, no fat high rpm lobe.

VTEC on the valve cover means it has variable valve timing, not mad powa at 5,000 rpemzzzz. It can be used for performance or economy.

Thats when the A/C compressor kicks off.
And I think VTEC is engaged at low rpms in our cars. As low as 2500rpms in 1/2 throttle or more.

i thought our vtec actually kicked in in the higer rpm ranges....i also think we have 'power down low' because it takes very little to get us going, we weigh very little.

the other day while accelerating i could have sworn i experienced what was vtec engaging....a little past 5k rpms. it was very subtle, but it was the first time i had noticed it.

The Truly Amazing Honda Fit/Jazz

Read please. This thread has too much guessing and that's not a good sight on a Fit forum. We need knowledge not guesses.
