Talking deposit down and can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all, just put my deposit on a 2008 Fit Sport in Blackberry Pearl on Monday and have crusing Fit sites since. I have had my share of time and experience with small cars. I have owned three VW Beetles, one Fastback, a Plymouth Horizon, Ford FIESTA (not festiva, they're ugly ), and two Suzuki Swifts, and those have just been my small cars!!! I hadn't realized there was such a huge following, and am looking forward to taking part in it! I haven't been this excited about a vehicle in a very long time, like since I started driving at 15 1/2!!! I'm 46 now, and about to order the HFit short shifter before I even have the car!!! !! Seriously!!!!

I would love to hear from anyone, everyone on what they have done to theirs, what's worked, what hasn't, and which things don't work well together. I am still reading threads on my own to do that, but if you have something of particular merit, please pass it along!
I live in Toledo, Ohio and work in Newport, MI. If there is anyone else in the area, drop me a line. I would love to get together and see what you have done with yours!!

Congrat's on the purchase....you'll love the Fit. Of all the mods on ours, my favorites are the Zeta dead pedal and Progress rear sway bar. I'm looking forward to the JDM center console with armrest, but haven't ordered one yet.

Congrats!

I'm in the same boat as you. I signed for my 5spd Sport in orange last week. Still waiting for it. Only things I have planned for it are tint and floor mats. I quit modding my daily drivers a LONG time ago - it always tended to get out of hand.

This thing will be a lot of firsts for me: first Honda, first 4cyl, first "small" car, first new car...

You made a nice choice. I'm another 46 year old and had to order my BBP MT sport which i got last November. The color is beautiful but maintenance is a nightmare. It shows everything. Rather than a short shifter you might want to invest in some carefully chosen car/paint care products. Also don't tailgate as your front end shows chips superbly. The car is still stellar in every way.

The '09 will have an armrest, but Honda, for some reason, didn't put one in the '08's.

There are retrofit armrests that are cheaper, but I like the OEM quality of the JDM one.

Talking

Oh My Goodness, I Am Not Worthy Of This Car!!!!!!! I picked mine up last Wednesday, but have been busy with doing stuf with and for my son who is home for the first time in TWO FF&*#@(*N' YEARS after his tour in Kuwait/Iraq with the Army, so have not had time to post.
I get to the dealership, and they got her sittin' right out front, facing out in all her Blackberry Pearl, 16" rim wearing Sport version beauty!!! It's locked, right, so I go in to find my dealer, and she is out with another customer (she is the #1 sales at this place like, always!!), but I sees the keys on her desk, and check the tag to make sure (yep, BBP, Sport, Manual), and head out the door to check her out. Open her up and start going through it, and this guy looking at cars asks me, "Do you like these?", to which I reply, "Don't even think about it, this one's mine!" and I may have said it a little TOO enthusiastically 'cause he took a step back, and had this wary look on his face, but I think he knew how I felt about the car. I LOVE IT!!! We finished up all the pprwrk and crap, and I took of outta there, and took the long way home. I must have really been driving crap before ;cause I think the shifting, and suspension as is are both pretty darn decent stock off the lot. I will be adding and changing anyway, but it feels good right now. I have managed to find time to put on the Mugen visor's, door sills, H-Fit SSI intake (which does have a real good tone under acceleration, and does give a noticeable HP improvement), and oh, yeah the coin holder, that I actually put on the on the freeway while driving home from the dealership. Seriously. Pulled the fuse cover off, reached in and popped the plug/cover off with my finger, almost rear-ended the car in front of me that had slowed down for traffic and I didn't notice (ABS works!! !!), and popped in the coin holder!! What unsafe I was wearing my seatbelt!!

I know how you feel. If someone asked me "are you as dependable and well rounded as your car?" I'd have to humbly answer "no, now that you mention it". Good luck keeping the BBP clean. It is a stunning color. It's sort of like having the special "Crown Royal Edition" Fit!

I know what you mean. I picked mine up 2 years ago and it has been a blast ever since.

Now, don't enjoy the car so much that you can't be safe!

In my opinion, these are some necessary add-ons that make the car more enjoyable/comfortable:
  • Tinting
  • Center armrest
  • Floormats
  • rear cargo organizer
  • Sun visor extenders (those little flaps you pull out when the visor doesn't block the sun completely)
  • Garmin GPS
  • Expel protective film for the front nose, hood, headlights, foglights, side-mirrors and doorsills and hatchsill
Funny you mention the Fiesta as one of your former cars! That was my sister's first car. It was actually a fun car, very similar to a smaller VW Rabbit. They came in some god-awful colors though (hers was orange!).

Enjoy the Fit. I think you will find that, compared to all the other small cars you've owned, it has a level of quality and personality that is hard to beat.

Yes, some of those are definitely going to happen, like Tinting, Center Armrest (paid for, just waiting for the children in the GB to pay up so Brian can buy them!), and got the all weather floor mats with the car. The stuff I carry in the back is generally too large for the organizer, so I won't be needing that. Let me tell you what though, I did save the tub that was in the spare of my '91 Civic Wagon, and will be putting that to use!! 'Such a neat idea', I thought when I first saw it.
I would like to hear more about the extenders and protective film, really!! I've already put the pretty door sill covers on, but would love to cover the front pieces; and who wants to have the sun in their eyes? Is their a link or thread here about those?

Yeah, I'm gonna. The camera is full from the drunken'/swimmin'/eatin' fest welcoming our soldier boy home for visit. Ya know, I didn't take any stock pics. Screw it, ya need stock pics, go to 'Build Your Car' at honda.com, right!?

Here are some links for you:

X-pel: Paint Protection Film - XPEL Technologies Corp.
Sunvisor extenders: Extend-a-Visor for the car from Dr. Leonard's Healthcare

The visor things are a little junky and rattly, but better than the sun in my eyes.

X-pel is expensive, but will protect the front of your car from rock chips and broken lights/foglights.

+1.
Congrats, I also have a BOM Sport in Auto though. Had it a little over a week now.
You'll love the Blaze Orange color too.
