after all dealer rebates, holdbacks ect they pay about 13,800 for a base mt,and about 2,000 more fore a sport at .I paid 14,188 for my base mt two months ago the dealer made about 400 bucks plus the money they soaked me for floor mats, good luck,

The sooner you get the better off you will be. With gas prices going up, the dealers will be less likely to move on the price. I paid 1500 over MSRP in San Jose. The dealer was telling me that the hybrids are selling for 5K over MSRP and they are not moving on the price at all.
Good luck
Good luck
This guy has the best advice out there:

There isn't too much room to haggle on a car in the Fit's price range, especially when they are so popular. I contacted every Honda dealer in south Florida and the best price I found was $13,999 for a base MT before taxes and tags which is about $500 under MSRP for the base, but like almost all Honda dealers they have a non-negotiable dealer prep which put the $500 right back on there LOL. So basically I paid MSRP and that was the best deal I found out of about 11 dealerships I contacted. One quoted me $17,100 OTD for an MT base. hahahahaha!
Most of the usual tricks, wait until the end of the month, go on a rainy day etc etc. don't work at Honda dealerships with popular cars. They don't need your business, there are 5 other people who will buy that Honda. Be prepared to pay around MSRP, but that is a fair price for these cars. They are quite good really.

I bought mine in San Antonio Texas about 2 months ago for a hair over $17000. I got lucky because they forgot to take off their sport muffler and grill. I think they were more interested in making sure they got their $3000 worth of rims and tires off the car before they turned it over to me.
i was at a local dealer a few days ago... test drove a silver s manual. The best they could do was msrp; so after tax otd was somewhat 17.4k... told me they cant hold any fits and civic lx because of the high demand
Naw, the dealer just added it as an option. I believe they have a third party company install them though. It is still covered under the factory warranty though. I can take pics later if you want to see it.
I paid MSRP for my VBP 2007 Fit. After totalling it I paid MSRP for my VBP 2008 Fit.
One thing that was interesting in the intervening ~9 months between purchases is that the dealer where I bought the 2007 started charging over MSRP. This is in Chicago and they've been in high demand since day 1. I found out, though, that if you go through Wal-Mart and their auto program that you can get the Fit for MSRP.
I ended up buying the 2008 at another place, but the bottom line is that you may be able to spend $60 on a Wal-Mart primier membership and save $1000+ that the dealer is listing it over MSRP. Or try using that as a bargaining chip to not pay over MSRP.
