professional kswap in fit???

I'm trying to find a shop that is experienced in the k20a2 swap in the fit. I want the shop to get all the parts and do all the work for a good price. I want kpro, hasport header, whatever intake will work, etc. I'm in Texas, but would travel if the price is right.

i dont understand why some of you are adding power mods or swaps to the fit when its initial purpose is to be an economy car.... not a "sport" car

If your old enough, maybe you remember people putting V8's into Vegas and Pintos. I wouldn't spend the money myself on a swap like that, but some car guys want to be different. I say more power to 'em!

I’m old enough to remember that and even then I was thinking "why the hell would they do that". Most people today look back at that and think "Why the hell did they do that" and they sure as heck aren’t looking to go buy one. I think that applies to the Fit. Why would you do that? At $17K for a fit and $5K+ for the swap, you could be looking at a nice condition Subby Sti which is a real performance machine with gobs of power meant for performance. Doesn’t make sense at all to me to apply to a Fit.

Thing is, folks buying $30k STIs tend to put another $5-10k+ into their cars anyway for even more power/performance, so I guess it's all about wanting more out of your car than you get stock. I thought I was OK with the STI's 300/300 at the crank, but pretty soon I was researching bigger turbos, etc. Thank goodness it never came to that!

In the end, different strokes for different folks. We have underpowered Hondas to thank in the first place for paving the aftermarket road that we enjoy today. Personally, I'm right there with you (wouldn't spend that kind of coin on a swap for the Fit), but I don't think it's fair to drag others down who are interested in doing so.

I almost got a VW GTI. I chose the Fit because it looked better. Although the economical side of it has benefits, I just love how the Fit looks and would/plan to do a K20 swap into it.

Either way it's not like the K20 engines get shit mileage. They still are very good.

For one, b/c some people may have kids some day and don't wanna be that loser with an eg trying to get his kids in and out of it. If it was just a project car, I would agree with you. I just don't have that kind of money to play like that.

As far as why do it? B/c it's being done in Japan and here and it's something that I would like to have. Civics are meant to be economy cars as well, but people do swaps on them. Also, the si (which we currently have two of) is still an economy car. I don't think they're classified as a sports car either. They're all "sport compacts" bottom line. My question would be "why would any of you mod your fits w/ boltons w/ a crappy motor?" Wouldn't that be more of a waste than actually going out and getting a better starting point and still have decent gas mileage, and be unique?

Is there anyone out there that knows any shops? Anywhere in the US is fine. More than one is fine as well. I would love to have more to choose from.

Funny thing is I would be willing to bet that with a k20 I would get better gas mileage then I get currently. I was getting 32mpg in my 07 si sedan mixed driving. Im getting 34ish in my fit. The extra hp/tq would probably make for a better driver and still manage to get the same gas mileage. I live in the texas hill country so the hills really kill the gas mileage when you have to go above 3k rpm to go up them,

If I could get a full kswap for my fit for 5k I would do it. I would imagine paying someone to do it would run almost twice that unfortunately.

tonyd3773 gave me info for a place in Palm Springs, CA that does a bunch of K-swaps and would do a K20A2 into a Fit for 5 grand.

Not everybody wants what everybody else has. Its unique to see a K20 fit. Its not unique to see a swapped eg or crx. Besides its his car he was just asking a simple question. Not asking what everybody thought of swapping a fit.

the nice thing with an EG, you can buy the car, the motor, shift linkage, axles, and mounts, and ecu for 5-6k dollars total doing an H swap. You can buy an EG and do an F23 for like 3-4 grand including everything. f23s go for 3-500 bux, and you can run a 75 shot and have 225hp reliable and get 35mpg no prob.

Then whenever you are done with the car, you can sell it or rebuild it depending on how bad you killed the car

If I had 10g's I'd have the k20a swap done in Tampa right now. Man that would kick ASS. Can you imagine a turbo K20A with boltons in a slammed Fit? Jesus man I would race anybody out there and win the money back that I put into it hahaha

ya but if you race a honda crx with the same set-up k20a and bolt-ons, that would be a close race cuz the crx is way lighter than the fit

Or you can just buy my buddy's EG Hatch (race car) with a K24 / K20 Frank swap.
