This is the 4th car I bought thru the site.

I went through USAA which has a similar program. $200 over invoice.
4 emails and 2 phone calls and mine was ordered...coming next week!!!

I paid 16500 for my auto sport in May. That was without any Costco plan, which of course I never even though of, so who knows if I could have saved more. Wouldnt have been much if any I think. Sales tax here is 8.65%, so 8 doesnt look terrible! Good thing I had a 4k trade to knock that down a little.

negotiate through e-mail, use edmunds to contact several dealers around you, ask for "Out the Door" price. Thats what I did. I let about 4 dealerships beat each others prices, First quote I got was almost 19k, after numerous e-mails and phone calls, got the price down to $17300 for an 08 Sport AT, OTD(without visitinig any of the dealerships). Just be patient, youll get a good price

well my AT sport fit was $16,750 (they would not go lower than that sticker price, whatever) and then taxes, license, registration was near $2000 more. so i ended up paying around $18k. i don't know, i think it is just because the fit has become so popular and they can sell it for whatever their heart desires.

I paid 18,500 OTD in May of 2006. It was the ONLY fit they had there at the time. Put 10k down to give me a nice payment of 165 a month

Now i am doubling up on my monthlys and i will be payment free in a year or so

I live in a metromess of 7m people - picked up my manual sport, BOM no less, for $17.2 otd - car, tax, fees, etc... I was set on the color, they wanted to sell me the paint protection - we agreed on $16k even for purchase price.

This was 2 weeks ago. It just takes some looking/calling around. I was referred to this dealer fwiw.

My local dealer is charging 500 over MSRP for the fit. But 20 mins down rt.78 another honda dealer is not charging anything...so to save money I'm going to the dealer farther away from me.

This is really odd, I am intersted in a Fit, but here in Portland, OR there is very limited numbers of Fits and the ADM is nearly $3000. The best quote I got for an 08 Fit Sport with Automatic transmission is $17900. I had cash and the dealer said this car will be gone by tomorrow. I refuse to pay this much. I am also a Costco member but when I tried to get a Costco price, I was told the Fit was not included in the Costco buying program. What gives? How can Costco in NY support the program and in Oregon it does not. I would be willing to fly to AZ or CA and drive back. In oregon there is no taxes on car purcases but title and liscence is around $300. I refuse to pay this much for a Fit. If anyone has a suggestion as to how I can get the Costco deal etc I would appreciate it.

Cheers
Scott

OMG you paid for "paint protection?" What exactly did they do to your paint? We haven't sold that or "undercoating" for 20 years!

Don't you mean "MSRP" instead of "invoice"? I find it hard to believe anyone has lots of these just lying around and is willing to sell them at a discount. Although $500 over invoice is just about "MSRP" anyway...

Are you a AAA member? They have a similar program to costco's. Check it out I am currently going through AAA to get my fit.

Unfortunately I am not a AAA member. The dealers here in the Portland area are so aggressive I doubt there is any program in place that would allow one to purchase a Fit at a reasonable price. Fortunately I do not need a new car, this was going to be an in town commute car. Looks like we will drive our guzzler a little longer.

The car and buyer gets 'waxed'. Still attempted in many states, including mine.

Get on the internet find adealer who will quote you an acceptable price if you can, make the deal via fax, and fly out to get it. Do your own financing with local bank based on the faxed bill of sale.
As far as Costco is concerned they have to find dealers willing to do the Costco deal; if there aren't any Costco can't offer the car. And right now Fits are in short supply thanks to owners and Consumer Reports. Prices are what the market bears. Thats why you'll have to find a lighter weight market if you can. Try the midwest middle population cities. Or will airline ticket be enough to pay the local ADP?
Ain't the wrong side of suipply and demand the worst. Sort of like gas prices. Dump Democrats for opposing exploration, drilling, and refining.
cheers, too.
