NEW - Fuel Economy Poll (FE within last month)
Okay... I know we have the other poll but it was started in April 2007.
I want to see what folks are getting for Fuel Economy who actually care about their fuel economy. No street racers in this poll.
Since this poll is in the Eco Fit section of FF.net, please vote in this poll only if you try to get good fuel economy - or at least don't race your ride. Please vote - telling what your fuel economy has been over the last month.
Thanks!

I check every tank. Gentle driving, but no hypermiling or anything crazy. Also very little idleing, city, or abusive driving. Lowest was 32.5 and highest was 37.5. Overall average around 36. With the same driving our 1995 Civic was always in the 40 range and my v8 Explorer gets around 17.
You want city or highway MPG
Mine generally falls into the 33-35mpg range for the city, I am going for a trip this weekend and I am expecting about 42+ MPG. Take your pick of which you think more accuratly reflects how you want your poll to look and let me know.
I don't really care about my mileage though mostly because it is freaking phenominal over what I used to drive.
Every tank is a bonus tank!!

I've had my Fit (Sport A/T) for about 6 weeks and my mileage looks like this:
5/19 37.90
5/25 36.28
5/31 38.47
6/06 38.89
6/10 40.73
6/13 38.73
I'm still using break-in techniques like varying my speed, no cruise control, etc, so hopefully after break-in I can improve on those numbers. It's just getting hot here in Oregon, so I've only used the A/C for about 150 miles on one tank. Other than that, I just drive easy, stay @ 65 (brief 70 mph) or less on freeway and try to use some of the ideas I've seen posted here. I'm about 70/30 Hwy/City.
One thing I've read many times is that the M/T gets better mileage than the A/T, and for most cars that's true. One reason is most A/T's are 4 speed vs. 5 speed M/T's. In this case, the Fit's A/T is a 5 speed which, many have posted, runs at significantly lower RPM's in 5th gear than the M/T. It just seems that unless you drive mostly city miles, the benefit of the lower RPM's crusin down the freeway in the A/T should equate to better MPG (at least on trips, if nothing else).

I don't do any hypermilling, but I try to stick to 55/60 on the highway and drive pretty conciously on the roads and my new fit is getting about 27.5mpg right now. But I live in vegas, its super hot here and the A/C is almost always on. Most of the driving is city, tho not stop and go, with some highway here and there.
I have less than 600 miles on the car tho so I am hoping the mpg gets better over time

I'm not a hypermiler by any means, nor do I drive like speed ricer. I coummute 400+ miles a week which is about 80% highway. 50-60% of which is spent in rush hour traffic.
Without any special techniques, I gernally average 38.6 MPG. All time high of the month being 39.5 MPG, and low being 34.7 MPG (70-80% AC usage in heavier than usual traffic)

Best I have done in the city is 42.043 mpg, which was my last tank, My worst was 31.099 which was in February (The cold here has a big effect on the gas mileage). I have had the car 14 months and have averaged 37.43186 mpg in the city and I drive with a light foot.
Canadians may still be familiar with calculating in Imperial gallons (40 Oz. or 5 quarts) which are 25% larger than the US gallon. I get 34 miles/US gallon. We now use the world standard of Litres per 100 km. This system is faster and easier to use when comparing operating costs. example; my wife burns 10 L/100km driving 130 kph. I burn 6.6 at 100 kph. It's 600 kliks to Jasper and back. Gas is $1.30/L so it is $59.40 cheaper for me to drive. I can do that calculation in my head. Most economic calculations involving mpg units will require dividing to get the cost.

They just help my sanity.I've been getting 42 MPG+ lately. With the ScanGauge now (just this tank) I'm over 45 MPG. I have 250 miles on the trip odometer, and I'm not even at 1/2 tanks yet!
BTW - combined fuel economy for the poll - City/Highway.
- Racing your car
- Staying in first/second gear all the time
- Need driving lessons
- Need to take your car in under warranty
The Fit is rated for 33/38. I used to race it around and got 32 MPG.

Coasting to a stop
As soon as you see the light ahead of you turn yellow, throw it in neutral and coast to the light
Bump up the PSI in your tires
Those few changes will net you some decent results. Good luck!
Your mileage will improve as the car breaks in. But might I suggest just a few hypermiling techniques:

I will look into the PSI in the tires, I assumed they were right where they should be!
Fantastic tank!!!!
I think I'm on my way to a great tank... 260 miles @ 1/2 tank. This is the first tank with the SGII, so I'm just beginning to calibrate it.

Wow! how the F*** are you getting 55 MPG? I try hard and the best I do is 42 MPG. What is your tire pressure set at? Have you altered any other things on your car to improve your mileage?

WTF!!
