Attention at Wal-Mart

Happy 4th of July!

I went over to Wal-Mart to do some shopping early in the day so I could get it over with. Came out and was loading up the car and this older guy in a S-10 truck parked next to my Fit. I had noticed him really looking at the car and that he had driven around it. He got out of his truck and asked me if he could ask me some questions about my car. I said sure - my favorite subject! He said he saw it on a television show the other night they were talking about the top 10 fuel efficient cars in the USA and the Fit was one of the top picks. He wanted to see the engine and asked me about the power - he was really excited about the car and could not believe that it stickers for $16,500.00 and had all the bells and whistles on it. I had to explain all my Mugen stuff and how the car doesn't come with any of that especially the racing pedals - he really liked those! I spent about 15 minutes talking to him and he said he was definitely going to go to the Honda dealership and check it out. As the gas prices go higher our little cars are gettin some love!

I just got asked about my Fit at Vons x] It does feel good to think you might have sold a car that you weren't really selling to someone!

People are amazed when I tell them how much I have fit in the Fit:
Full size bicycle, straight in.
14 computer towers, 2 UPSes, keyboards and mice, plus tools and cables, etc., and the front seat was still empty (and I got 42mpg with the car loaded)!

The number one question I get when I tell them I get around 45mpg: "Is that a hybrid?"

Hi Cat!

Next thing ya know, you'll be telling us you're working at a Honda dealership! I've given my saleman's info. twice recently! The little cars are definitely getting more attention.

I'm so jealous that the '09's will have telescoping steering wheel. I have a lot of shoulder problems and always feel like I'm having to hold my arms up. 'Wish I could pull the steering wheel closer to me.

I'm seeing more Fits here all the time. We're trend-setters!

Hope you all had a nice fourth!

I got stopped while pumping gas by a guy in a suburban... He was like $32 and you filled it? I said yeah from "E". He was like "I gotta get rid of this damn thing". I told him that fill up will last me a week

I just read an article about owners of Suburbans and other large SUVs paying over $100 for a fillup. That's gotta hurt...

What surprises me, is how many people assume it's a hybrid.

Yeah, the first question everybody asks me about my Fit is, "Is it a hybrid?" Do people just assume small cars are hybrids? As far as I know, all the hybrids on the market right now are pretty big cars (compared to the Fit, anyhow). I bet a car as small as the Fit would get crazy gas mileage in hybrid form, blowing that big clunky Prius out of the water. Remember the Insight?

This also reminded me, my little (18 year old) cousin just got a new Yaris hatch, and was asked if it was a hybrid. Her response? "I don't know."

Hey back at you Squirrely:

Good to see you still surfing the forum - hey if I could sell Honda Fits all day long that would be a great job!

Hahaha! That's what my 20- year-old daughter would have said, too.

Suprisingly I haven't got the hybrid question yet. I have had a lot of people in there 50s and 60s inquire about it. One guy at the post office said I convinced him to go from the post office to the Honda dealer. Apparently he bought a an F-250 right before gas got rediculous and he wanted to get rid of it.

He saw my Fit and liked it so i showed him around it and then showed him the magic seats and he fell in love. About a week later he was rocking a TWB base model.

Very cool story! You're now officially a Fit-evangelist - spreading the wheels
I always seem to forget to show the magic seats to people and that could be the biggest selling point for some people.
