Big thanks from a FIT n00b!

hey folks!

just put a deposit down on a '08 red Sport AT Fit! should be in next week!

just wanted to drop a line and say THANK YOU for all the amazing info on here. My old ride is a 99 Civic HB with light mods that served me well for almost 10 years. so the Fit is a no-brainer.

The only thing keeping me from dropping in on a new Fit earlier was a lack of tech info and mods/community... well, I found that right here! Google is your friend.

So thanks again!

Depends on how big of a drop you want and what kind of wheels you are going to get eventually or if you are going to stick with stock wheels. As far as intake my feeling is that the gains from them are not going to differ that much as far as how much money you spend so you mise as well just make one or get a quality one that doesn't cost too much.

Congrats on your new Fit. I too had a 99 Civic HB that I traded towards my '08 Fit.

i'm in Milford, down on the shore.

thanks for the greetings, of course pics are to come!

ONE quick question that i did a little searching for:

i read on some threads that some dealers screw the front license plate right into the bumper! i plan on a JDM style side mount eventually, but i do NOT want them to mount the front plate through the plastic. should i mention it, or is it nothing to be worried about?

Call them up ASAP and tell them NOT to screw your front bumper.

X2, tell them not to even put the front bracket on. They did mine and the paint behind it is scratched up something nasty, all the way through the paint in places.

Tell them to zip-tie it to the lower grill. Also the bracket can attach with just the two lower bolts, you don't need to make a hole in the bumper.

We've had a couple meets, and a few of us have gotten to know each other in person. No huge meet with everyone yet though. We've got one in the works for August.

thanks for the greetings everyone!

check this out... little problem.

my wife and i just finished up with the finance guy for the MR Fit Sport in route. our other car ('04 VW Golf GL...yukkkk) only gets about 23 mpg.

the car we're dumping for the Fit, a 99 Civic, gets close to 34 mpg, similar to the Fit. the ONLY reason we're selling it is we need 4 doors for 2 little kids... plus, the ol' lady drives the civic to work and she's kinda embarassed to be seen in it haha!

now, my wife has fallen in love with the Fit and has basically said 'take the VW, when the Sport arrives it's mine!'

so, i figure... with the price of gas, and the trade in value still decent on the golf, with a 30 mile round trip commute every day... carry the one... sell the VW, get ANOTHER Fit!

problem is, i don't think we can afford two Fit Sports... so i think i may get a base and IMMEDIATELY lower it and put on some 15"s, and eventually get a nice mugen/spoon rear spoiler. i don't mind the other missing pieces from the sport.... except the body kit.

the big question folks... how lame does a Base model look dropped on 15"s with no kit or mouldings?!?

i bet it looks fine, the big thing that makes the base icky is not spoiler... but your planning on fixing that lol
