Performance chips

Anyone ever try one of these things?
2in1 PERFORMANCE CHIP HONDA FIT 2007-2008 - (eBay.ca item 250279617641 end time 13-Aug-08 16:01:22 EDT)
Maybe not specifically like this one but they got lots on ebay.

Does it really help improve HP and MPG???

the sellers feedback is 100%, but who knows if it actually works. you might want to email them and find out. the picture isnt showing up on my computer. so i can see what it looks like. but 10$ for a performance chip? sounds like a bunch of BS to me.

if a $3500 supercharger won't net 35hp, a $10 performance chip won't net .035hp

Scam for sure. Kind of like those vortex things that "improve" gas mileage.

My dumbass friend bought one of this "chips" for his neon a couple years ago on ebay. He asked me how to install it, I wanted to slap him in the face for being so stupid. He showed me the "chip" and all it was was a normal resistor you can get at radioshack, and he paid close to 20 bucks for it. I just told him to throw that shit in the trash.

All those "chips" that are sold on ebay are as has been said, a 10 cent resistor you can get at Radio Shack. It goes where the IAT sensor is, and basically tricks the computer into thinking the air temp is lower, thus richening up the air/fuel ratio. If it got you 1hp you'd be lucky, all the while wasting more gas. Don't be scammed as thousands have on ebay buying that crap.

It tricks your air sensor into running the engine too rich (or lean i cant remember) and its horrible for your engine in the long run. Dont waste you're time.

I have one with my E-Ram electric supercharger and I dynoed at 375 WHP!! I love it, and I get 125 MPG!!! with the A/C on..... As others have said, don't waste your time or money on these, they are a scam. Unless you are the one fleecing people, then they are the greatest. And I would wager that the reason he has a 100% feed-back is that people who buy them are too embarassed to admit they got jobbed.

hey- I am the sucker that actually bought one of these; thought with the money back guarantee what the heck. Stay away from this! When I returned it because it is snake oil, they claimed it was damaged and would not refund my money. I don't know if these chips do anything but I do know this 2n1 company is as dishonest as they come!

If you have an after market exhaust and intake there is an increase in bottom end torque with an item like this and it wont kill your engine.... On a completely stock car it may make the mixture overly rich.... It has the same effect as relocating the AIT sensor in a position closer to the incoming air intake where the air is cooler.
