How to protec the fit on a Trip from CA to FL

Well guys next week i move to Fl. I was going to use some blue tape aka the painters tape to put on the front of the fit so it does not get a bunch of rock chips on it. But is there any thing else u guys would sugest to me?? I have seen the 3m clear bra stuff. But that costs around $400 last time i checked. Is there any thing cheaper than this?? I was thinking a nose mask maybe just for the tip though. What do all u use on ur long trips. Or should i just not worry? Well thanks for any input on this matter .

painters' tape FTW

make sure you start from the bottom and work your way up so water/dust/dirt doesn't get beneath the adhesive. have at least an 8th of an inch of overlap between each strip and lay a 2nd layer of tape for the high-impact debris.

have a safe trip

As ugly as it is to some, OEM bra can't be beat! Shear thickness of it will protect even against road gators.
Bra got a bad wrap thanks to people who keep them on 24/7 for months at the time even through the wet season. I had one for my CRX for years until it fell apart from age! Car paint was perfect under it.
If I were you, I would use blue painters tape and put bra over it! This way you are double safe even at the edge of the bra on the hood and fenders.
Just my $0.02!

hood deflector will help stop light rocks, debris, etc. from hitting your hood and windshield.

Ivan, nothing protects against road gators... my front end CAVED IN... >.>

if you're talking about a random wack with a road gator.. maybe... but my car was defaced, the whole bumper caved right in, broke the black grill (the one where the radiator is) and lost both my shields underneath from the shock.

Wait, why are you posting on the forums, aren't you supposed to be "SICK"?

or even asleep?

Here is my road trip to Chicago, same tips apply to going down south to Florida.

Make sure you check weather reports before heading out, and check on the road at any of the truck stops. If you can, get the week pass with the j flyer's truck stops, there are tons of them on the road, and they have internet access. Another option is starbucks, check with starbucks, and check your map and see what lines up. You can get a good deal for a month's worth of internet for 20$, and it guarantees you internet access at any of their locations nationwide.

Another alternative is find a hotel, and park as close as possible to the lobby, and use their "guest" internet access. Lots of super8 motels are requiring their customers to pay for the internet, and so are some few holiday inns... but many had them for free. Real handy since I could eat breakfast and browse the net while in the privacy and shade of the hotels.

I was wondering to myself if just clear coat spray paint would offer any level of protection? Does it actually turn out nice, clear and shiney? or will it look bad? Would a couple coats of it be good for rock protection?

If you are thinking DIY, I can tell you for sure that it wouldn't be worth your time. If done by a body shop, not sure. It won't be more than a little more protection, maybe a little less likely to chip, sort of like the top coat on nail polish (something guys won't know about).
