i'm going to say this:

the new fit looks to be awesome, and the only real complaint i have is the tire size. (185's on 16's? wtf?)

while we still have a very special car, all you haters hating on the looks of it can suck on a lemon...this car seems to be great. and for it to be considered the most fun fwd compact next to the mini? man. they never went that far with our fits.

i think they both excel at different things, but aside from the aftermarket, this fit looks to be better overall.

And we still get shafted on the price. From $2555 to $3,000 diff. And we pay double the freight price. And no rebate from the CON gov't.

I also read that the date for the 2009 has been moved up to Aug. 26 for the U.S. (Next tues.)

Looks like no VSA or NAV for us Canadians. Might be a blessing in my case since i am a sucker for options. There's also no mention of the shift pedals on the steering wheel. I still believe the Sport trim has best value with security system, rear stabilizer bar and 16" alloy wheels as standard equipment. As far as tires go, wonder how much wider the '09 Fit can accommodate.

I am almost certain i will be purchasing one but will like to test drive it before putting money down.

Not if he has to buy it himself.

I am sorry that the Canadians seem to take it in the shorts on Honda pricing. The '09 looks to be a better car for the money, and my bet is that it will be around, unchanged, long enough for after-market parts makers to be interested in offering more power and handling parts than they do for the '07/'08's.

Yeah but at least we didn't get a price increase over last year in Canada. And yes, our "official" release date of September 15th puts us 3 weeks behind the Americans. I did find a blog posting from someone in Montreal showing shots of one of the Honda Fits. Apparently the dealerships are "hidding" them until Honda gives the official go-ahead. I don't get all this hush-hush secrecy. We know the car is coming so why not be more forthcoming with details? Oh, the car in Montreal is Tidewater Blue so I guess that answers my question about colors.

A very well-written article, too! A sense of humor and literary references are rare in the automotive writing field.

I asked jdmchris a little while ago about it. he had no idea if/when if the KW for 09 was going to happen. I figure maybe a year after the 09 hits the streets. total opinion though.

Actually you are right. I used the Sport MT in my figures as the LX is not sold below the 49th. As I bought my 2007 AT on 4/3/2006 I missed out on the Honda rebate and also the gov't one. Didn't even get the cruise control in my LX. LOL Maybe it pays to not try and be first.
