Is VSA worth it for 2009 Model?

Hey All,

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this. Since the 2009 Fit does not offer bluetooth or Sat Radio, I was thinking of getting the Kenwood DNX8120 Aftermarket GPS Unit that includes so that I can get SAT radio and Bluetooth.

I would really like to get VSA as I plan to use this car as my beater, bike hauler, and utility car for the next 10 years and it will be driven in Rain/Snow.

Do you guys think I should just suck it up, get the the Sport Auto with Nav to get VSA option?

Pricing wise, if I go aftermarket I will save about $600 and get bluetooth and SAT, but no VSA. Will also have less wires running in the car since I woun't have to get a sepearte parrot bluetooth device or something similar, and Small Sat Radio.

On the other hand it would be nice to have VSA.

Thoughts please.

I'm coming from a '05 TSX, and '06 330i, traction control has helped in both of those cars.

If you can afford it, get it. Especially if you have harsh weather environments.

Personally, I can afford navi/vsa but based on principle I really don't want to get something I dont need or want.

Price really isn't an issue. More having a interior not cluttered with extra SAT unit and Bluetooth Unit. I really like Garmin GPS units, which the Kenwood unit has integrated also. But then I lose VSA....

Hows the Honda GPS unit? I don't have too much experience with it.

Honda GPS is arguably best in class. But I don't think its worth $1250 (lets just say VSA is worth $600).

If the Honda Nav had SAT radio or Bluetooth this wouldn't be an issue.

I dont think in the fit u really need any sort of vsa or anything like that. I have seen the fit drive in a bunch of snow just fine wiht out chains or getting the slight bit out of control nor was it hard to drive. Just another way to bump up the price or another way to take your hard earned money.

Skip the VSA and Honda NAV and spend the money to get a Pioneer F series headunit instead. Sat radio and Bluetooth for a heck of a lot less.

I'm leaning towards getting the Kenwood DNX8120. At this point I'll be able to get that with face kit, cables, and SAT radio, backup camera, and IPOD USB cable for less than $1100. That gets me Bluetooth and Howard Stern. Would have been nice to get VSA though, but want a clean interior without wires everywhere.

If you're into any major performance upgrades, it seems from past Honda's with vsa it's more of a problem then a benefit as it seems you can't turn it off completely.

I'd definitely go the aftermarket route. And if you even wait a few months to replace the headunit, might get one with hardware that will work with the combined XM and Sirius.

FWIW, insurance studies and Consumer Reports are calling stability control the biggest improvement in automotive safety since the seatbelt. It's pretty lame that you have to get the factory nav system to get VSA. They should have made it standard across the board, or at the very least a standalone option.

And no, your feet can't do what VSA does, anymore than they can do what ABS does.

i serious only really think people who cant drive or drive on the moon need any sort of form of VSA or anything like that for that matter.

Save your money and take a driving class its the best investment u can make.

That's why F1 cars had it for several years until this season.
Main rule changes for 2008 F1 seasonThe Formula One season starts in Melbourne on March 16 with drivers adapting to cars without traction control and some new rules. The following lists the main changes:
I'm all for a driving school, but it isn't exactly like any of us are a F1 caliber drivers or could even remotely hope to be someday regardless of the number of driving schools we attend.

Granted we are not driving f1 cars nor are we all Kimi Räikkönen but thoes f1 cars can also out accerlate or out brake anything for them i think its really used as a safty feature.

There are safty driver course out there that help promote situational awareness and teach u good habits to keep yourself out of situations that would require using vsa and therefore not needing it.

Being a better drive hands down beats any electronics i can put on my car.
