Best stuff to clean your Fit dash?
Best stuff to clean your Fit dash?
Guys, what's the best stuff to clean your Fit's dash and other hard interior plastics? I used to use Fantastik on my old car but it sure does smell and wondered if there might be something better?
keep household cleaners away from your cars. they are not made to
handle the extreme environments.
Prima Nero is wat i use for the car's interior plastics and rubber.
Detailers Paradise: Premium Car Care Products, Auto Detailing
less shiny than Aerospace303.

I never have, and never will use chemicals on my interior in any of my cars. It feels greasy, and looks shiny and gross. Over the long run, it will actually dry your interior out and make it look really bad when the car gets older.
I just use a slightly wet Microfiber towel every couple weeks.
In between that, i keep a dry micro fiber in my side door pocket and whip it out when i start to see dust on my dash or anywhere else.

i just use an "absorber" after i'm done drying my car. used armorall on my old car and all it did was make it greasy, and i actually think it made it attract more dust and dirt. it also made it too shiny, so the sun glared on it while i was driving

Prima Nero will not feel greasy or shiny. it's less shiny than Aero303 as
i posted above. you can even dillute Nero 50/50 with water and use
that for even less product. i do that on my a/s floor mats...just wash
with watever carshampoo you got left and a brush, then spray the
50/50 mix of Nero and water and let it air dry.
Perhaps a wet rag and some elbow grease is all you're looking for. Do you want your stuff to shine or just to be clean? To be honest I've always found water to work quite well. I would be more worried about what you're wiping it with. Then again I just got my fit today so I can really speak on what is best for that specific type of car, but I assume it would be the same as long as you are not messing with any type of fabric.
i used to use pre-soaked cleaning wipes, then a once-over with Vinylex and a micro. i found that if you are one of those who keeps theirs clean on a regular basis, just the Vinylex step will be enough to clean AND protect. Just keep a few towels handy, and don't use too much. leave your first application on for a day, then go over it again with a clean micro to get rid of the excess. this also tones down on the "shine", but it will never look like ArmorAll. ArmorAll on your dash is the equivalent of putting Three Flowers in your hair. get me?
have fun, and happy cleaning!
oh, and btw- the plastic in the car behaves like your own skin, or the paint on a car.....it has to be treated (moisturized, if you will) at some point. just use Alcohol-free solutions like Vinylex or what kenchan recommended and you'll be just fine.

Don't mess with ArmourAll or whatever. If you go to the store, Meguiar's is generally good.
But all you need for the dash is a microfiber rag and maybe a lil bit of water. For protection/preservation I use EagleOne NanoWax SPRAY. It's not greasy, wipes away easily, and is safe on most of the cars surfaces (if not all). I use it after a wash on the outside all over the car and every now and then I use it inside.

I'm a bit of a car cleaning nutcase, and I can guarantee 100% satisfaction with the link below. All of the "big dog" detailers use it, and it is simply the best. My 4 year old S2000 day looks better than new.

If you tell me that Goodson West had an '08 Fit I'm going to HAVE a Fit...
I use woolite diluted 1 part to 10 parts water as an interior all purpose cleaner. I use Ultima Interior Guard Plus to protect leather and vinyl. It's not shiny but does brighten up sun-exposed vinyl on dashboards nicely.
I use Armor All protectant wipes on the interior plastics. I have had my Fit for over a year now and have not noticed any negative effects of using that product. I also had an '03 RSX Type S for a few years and always used those protectant wipes without noticing any adverse chemical effects. However, I only use those wipes every couple weeks to protect the plastics. In between uses I just wipe down the dash with a microfiber towel that I have in the door pocket. The plastics always look new with this procedure. Later.

I just don't see how you can't put some kind of protectant on it. Within a week of having it I saw places where my foot hit the door panel getting in and out. Plus my wife has to sit with her left leg under her right with her shoe up against the door
So I clean that when she's not looking.
