Your first scratch or ding?

Hey guys, just curious how you got your first ding or scratch on your Fit?

Yesterday I came out to my car from being at work and saw cat prints on the hood. I inspected the hood closer toda and noticed a light colored scratch on the hood that was about 4" long. And then I saw a few other small ones... where it had slipped.

Now I'm gonna be parking on the other side of the store... where the cats don't hang out.

alive

At least something alive (has merits!) did the damage. I noticed a tiny dent (highway rock chip) about 4 inches from the bottom lip of the hood. I went to a paintless dent repair place and they showed me why the dent was next to impossible to repair. It was located right where a "rib" or structural member was located underneath the dent. I love my Blackberry Pearl Fit but realistically it's just a car and that's just paint. We all take dents in one way or another and must learn to live with them. Hey I just noticed your home town. Does the name Renner mean anything to you? My ex brother-in-law (Al) was from Perryville.

My first dent was a doozie. Driver's door right along the contour outwards. Just put on my visors and my new arm rest. Detailed it and went for groceries. Nice white NEW car beside me...tons of room. Wind must have caught their huge door. No note, of course.
Dealer wants $700 to fix it - says it has to be filled and painted.
The dent guy said he would try to remove for $200 if successful. Free if not.
Worth a try but DAMN I swore all the way back home and everytime I get in the car, I cringe at the sight of it.
Can't wait to get it fixed (and would much rather pay the $200 but the metal might have stretched too much...will see)

second day I had my car I went to work and got a ding. the second day I had my brand new car. I was furious. I spent 5 minutes walking around looking at all the white cars and looking for black paint on their doors.

i didn't find them, but if I do one day...

The first scratch/dings are the WORST! My boyfriend found a tiny scratch on my drivers door. Grrrrrrrrrr.

I even park in the empty lots at the grocery store or any store for that matter. Although at home (live in an apt complex) this STUPID Impala has all the room on his drivers side but goes over his passenger side line into MY space. If he does it again Im putting a note on his car to get the F away from my car!

I realize that it's going to get scratched, it's on the road and it gets parked near the things that scratch it. It was just.. "how long before it gets scratched" But after you get one... you kinda want to do all you can to stop it from happening again. The ones you can prevent are the ones that suck the most.

And the name Renner doesn't ring a bell. I didn't grow up here, I'm a transplant from Jackson (25 miles south).

Mine came with a tiny chip on the driver's door handle...no one but me can see it. (I bought an '08 w/1000 miles on it.) But I am being anal about door dings. I avoided WalMart all weekend b/c I can't park far enough away that no one will park next to me, because if I'm that far out, my wheels might get stolen!

My first dent I don't know how it happened. It's on the drivers' side rear door, if you rub your finger across it, it's about 1/4" deep and 1/2" wide. Hard to see on NHBP unless I showed you. Second ding happened at DIY carwash, accidentally lost grip of the nozzle and it hit the hood and scraped a thin line about 1/4" long off the hood. Pissed me off, and it's very noticable if you're right next to the car......

You get the weirdest dent award for sure! Did the bear come out alright? I worry about deer. My area is quite wooded and it's quite conceivable that one could end up coming through the windshield making for some cozy moments with a furry friend.

Grouser, wow... how fast were you going? I would have thought it had done more, but then again it looks like a glancing blow.

I guess animals are the reason I started this thread.... I saw someone last night post the thing about the suicidal armadillo. Kinda funny story, but not a happy ending.

One of my other first scratches came from one of the old water blades that has the hard plastic handle. Blade got hung in the window sill and it flexed over and hit the drivers side door handle.. leaving a mark the length of the handle and maybe 2mm wide. Oops... now I have a gel one!

lol. that would make for a funny comic in like a tuner's magazine.

<Image 1> Squirrel is having trouble tight-roping a thin tree branch with his prized, shiny acorn.

<Image 2> Tuner is buffing off the last speck of wax from his car

<Image 3> Squirrel drops acorn, clutches his head and cries out in agony

<Image 4> Tuner sees acorn fall and hit car in slow motion, extremely tiny dent is made, tuner clutches his head and cries out in agony
