Honda Fit Roof Rack Installation Instructions

IJ - In your second photo, looking down at the car, there's a little light halo in the roof sheet metal just under the front tower on the rack. Your roof isn't oil canning under the load, is it? The picture sure makes it look that way.
By the way, congrats on the nice job with the rack and figuring out the photos.

Nope, no oil canning. I can grab the bar & put my own weight into it & see the roof flex a bit, but nothing serious & a long ways from the pop of oil canning (a new & good term for me). Check out the new pix now added to my original Instructions at the front of this thread. Thanks, IJ

Fit roof racks
Really enjoyed your overview of the installation and photos. It looks well done. For those searching it's a great help.
To others that may be reluctant to go this way, I have used the same Yakima rack on a four door Civic, two door Civic SIR, and Honda Element by changing the Q-towers.
Each time the set up was rock solid with a 14' Kayak, bundles of 2x4 and one time an Oak dining table. Yes Yakima is big bucks, but long term worth it. I'm sure resale would be easy.
Installation is 10 minutes.
Just some input for those looking for racks.

How about 2012?
Wondering if anyone knows if the 2012 has the same internal dimensions as far as bracing. The Honda dealership couldn't pull up the specs for me.
Note on temporary racks: I've used the Yakima Q-towers before. Worked great until the smallish foot pads dented the sides of my new roof! Also great until I had a piece of plywood rip it off my roof and send it in to oncoming traffic! It has always been set up according to Yakima specifications.
No matter what style you choose, make sure to tie down large loads to the front of the car as well. I added straps that attach under one of the bolts under the hood. The straps tuck under my hood when not in use but can be pulled out and tied to the load. Bomber.
