Securing Rear License Plate

Any one have a simple question. I tried to do some searching but I'm not seeing anything.

Is there an easy way to secure the rear license plate with all 4 screws? My GF's only uses the top 2 screws and it rattles and doesn't sit flat, which drives me crazy. I don't want to drill anything and She has a license plate surround that she wants to use.

Any Ideas?

The Fitfreak license frames that are sold on this site also rattle on the rear hatch when the hatch is closed, opened, or the cars go over rough pavement. There are only two bolts used for the rear anyway. So I drilled a hole at each lower corner, and used 1/8" Pop Rivets to hold plate and frame together. This was 1 1/2 years ago- no rattles at all since then. Rivets are invisible unless you already know that they are there.

Keep the two holes, but lift up the plate from the bottom and slide some foam up there so that it'll be nice and tight. If anything rattles it's the license plate frame.

works for me and I've have my car for 2 years.

I taped the frame (border) to my plate, and the plate to the hatch.

i had the same problem, it drove me crazy, i have the oem fit frame from honda, what i did was cut little strips of industrial strength velcro from home depot, and put it in between the plate and the frame, just a few strips as narrow as the frame and a couple inches long did the trick. it has been there for 6 months now with no rattles, and the two layers of velcro give it some cushion.

I'm going to have to check it out. Her license plate is not flat so I think that may be part of the problem. When it's attached to the hatch, the bottom right corner is raised off the hatch.

Speaking of license plate frames...do you guys take yours off when you wash the car? Because my car is grungy behind the plate.

I don't take mine off when I wash, but I'm ordering the mugen frame and bolts right now so I'll wash behind the plate when I get those.

I've had the Fit frame and a Mugen one, both rattle. I even tried Fit screws and Mugen ones, they both rattle.
Good idea of securing it to the car. It is a good idea to remove the plate and clean behind it to keep it from getting really dirty. My cousin taught me to also raise the hood and clean that area everytime I wash my car to keep debride and rocks from scratching that painted surface too.

I need to take a wet rag or something to my engine to clean off some dust and stuff. My OEM plate doesn't rattle. Try tightening it down more. Mine's tight as balls, it won't move at ALL.

Grab two short screws and nuts and just tighten them on there. Make sure the screws are short enough to were they won't scratch the hatch.

My car has these two rectangular thick foam pieces, maybe 2 inches tall, an inch wide, under where the bottom third of the license plate goes. I've never had a problem with rattling. I thought it was factory, but maybe dealer install?
