I'm sure he wasn't implying to say a modded S2K being slower than a modded Fit... IMO...for $30,000, I'd buy a base fit, FI that beesh...wheels/suspension...and probably a JDM body conversion...and be a lot more fun than an S2K. I can't remember where I read it or heard it from...but there's this quote: "It is more fun to go quickly in a slow car than it is to go fast in a fast car" and I couldn't agree more. But as everyone is saying. To each his own...your money, your credit, your time, and you're the one driving it. So fack the haters. |

i had to decide from buying a fit or a used s2k
i chose the fit because of the gas prices and the fact that ill have more room to put things in and to me it was more like 35mpg > 22mpg |

Um. Last time i checked those BMWs are RWD. Thats why i like the 3 series so much. Not so much now adays but the older ones. So that statement confuses me a little. Infact. I know people with 325ci that will stomp on a S2k all day long everyday.

I just bought an 04 S2k to replace my 335 which my lease is ending. I have driven the S2k everyday for 2 months putting on close to 4k miles, and I got tired of it as a DD. So now it sits in the garage and comes out on weekends or really nice days. It is not a fun DD, especially coming from a car with low end torque. Now I just DD my wife's Honda fit, I am happy with that..
If you DD the S2k and it is your only car, you will probably get tired of it quickly. Awesome fun car, but it's really just a big-boy's Toy. I'll probably be selling my S2k this summer and grabbing a 135i...miss the power. |
ok i understand what ur saying. But the 335i is a RWD car. not awd. Unless i missed a memo somewhere. And yes it has a 300hp TT straight 6. So no you can't really compare it to a s2k.

can you really compare japanese cars with european automobiles?
|
Fit for daily and S2K for weedend! Issue solved: )
|
The Fit and S2k are not in the same class. It depends what you want, also expect to pay more on everything from maint,to insurance with the s2k. I know because i have both.

i'd love to own an s2000 someday but i cant picture myself daily driving it.
I have not driven my mr2 turbo for 3 weeks since we got the 09 fit. Granted its no s2000 but i can relate to the hassle of worring about speedbumps, dips, parking without damaging lower front lip, curbing the wheels, the attention it gets, door dings etc just drove me nuts. Fit is simple, jump in and go! :vtec: |
^^ i agree. s2k should be pampered as a weekend car, not as a dailydriver.
i mean it looks cheap when you're driving a vert for grocery getting... or even worse, seeing FR coupes and verts trying to make it in the snow. lol sad view. just shows how some people are just too poor to enjoy the car the way it was suppose to be enjoyed. |
Cheap. Fast. Reliable. Pick two.
With the Fit you're getting cheap and reliable. The S2000: Fast and reliable. (Factor in insurance, premium fuel, lower mpgs, etc. It ain't cheap. :)) I'd get the S2000 as it might be the last gasoline powered sports car you'll ever get a chance to own, what with the way the economy and petroleum reserves are going... You'll have a chance to drive a "practical" car later. Not that the Fit isn't a great car. |
