Clutch noise

2008 Honda Fit Sport, 23K

It seems that when accelerating, after I shift and let the clutch out I hear a quick noise that seems to be the clutch. Basically it sounds like "Chh."

At a stop, let out the clutch and give 'er some gas and start accelerating in first gear. Clutch in, shift to second, (chh!) as I let out the clutch.

I don't launch the car hard or overly slip the clutch when starting or between gears. Sometimes I get a bit of chatter starting from a stop when the car is cold, but from searching around on this forum it seems this is pretty normal.

I'm beginning to think this car has a weak clutch. I learned to drive stick on an '03 Mini Cooper (my mom's) and did some DUMB stuff in that car. Slipping the clutch at 3K, 7,000 RPM clutch drops, etc. At 35K when we traded it in there weren't any weird noises, no chatter, and no slipping.

It's a shame the damn thing has a feather-light clutch pedal with almost no feedback, because the gearbox action feels great for a car in this class. Except for the popping out of gear on shifting it's done since it was new...

I'd take to the dealer but I'm afraid they'll claim I've warped the pressure plate and the warranty, for obvious reasons, won't cover any sort of clutch work.

Nope, if I'm idling in neutral I can push the clutch in and out without any sort of noise.

Maybe this is just one of those things where the solution is to just turn up the music.

Just a quick update; I had my oil changed yesterday after letting the maintenance minder get down to 5% ( at me, been too busy with school lately) and the clutch noise is all but gone....

I'm not one to be superstitious, but I think this car will tell you when it wants attention.

It also seems to be driving a bit better too, but that's probably placebo...

Who knows?
