I run a steel fabrication shop, and am a part-time pro photographer.

 

I'm a journeyman technician at a Volkswagen dealership, I have diplomas in Automotive Technology from UTI and the Audi Academy as well as roughly 25 individual certifications from ASE, EPA, Audi, and Volkswagen. I'm 24, I'll be 25 in early February.

44 year old teacher turned librarian.

I taught 1st, then 2nd grade, for 18 years, but am now in my 3rd year as a middle school librarian.

Wanted to get a vanity plate that read: FIT HAPNS, but it wasn't very 'librarian-like' ---- would also have had to shorten it to 7 characters. As it turns out, I'll just have a regular plate....but FIT HAPNS.....would have been fun!!

Thanks man for that. Its people like that that i whish would just see what we have to go through for a month to keep are freedom over here. I will never take any thing for granted again. Some thing as simple as me having a car geting 3 meals every day, Or just not worrying what might happen if i walk out side is why i love the USA. But back on topic and let people like that be them it makes me laugh at how young that guy is to think he is a big man on the internet

43 year old husband x 20yrs, father of a special angel who'd have been 8 this month, and a wonderful little boy who will be 7 come February. The light of our lives, this boy.
Lost my Xteenth job as an IT guy when he was 4.5 months old. Became a stay-at-home dad. Went college to get my first and only degree, in Nursing. By the time he was ready for kindergarten, I was ready for work.

I am now an RN on a psych unit. People ask why I chose that area of nursing. I only half-jokingly say it takes one to know one (TKZ12NO1). I work 3 twelves per week, and spend the rest of my time doing a whole lot of nothing. I need to kick my laptop habit. But really, my psych patients are people too, and I mostly like the work I do, because I can identify - my life has not been easy. I've been through many a crisis myself, but maybe I had one more coping skill than my patients have, which kept me from becoming a patient myself. They feel I mean it when I'm trying to help them, and that's very gratifying for me.

The 09 Orange Sport is the first new car I've bought myself that was just for me. Others were shared (civics were mostly my wife's), family (Odyssey, which was overkill for my solo commute), or used (2 bugs, lots of buicks, a 4wd wagon, a cutlass).

It isn't.

Maybe the guy who was being critical was just having a bad day. God knows we all have them sometimes, and we let things get to us that normally wouldn't. It certainly happens to me more than I would like.

My two cents: anyone can spell or misspell as they please, but it does make their posts seem less credible to some people.

A person's ability to spell is not an indication of that person's intellect, in my opinion. The innate ability to spell correctly comes from learning to write (and spell) by reading, as opposed to learning to write (and spell) by listening.

It's just that no one would dare correct someone's grammar face-to-face, and the correction of or comment about using "u" for "you" adds nothing to any discussion.

People who feel a need to correct others on an internet forum need to think twice, or five times, before posting that message. It just isn't important and makes you look like a total ass.

I have a degree in English, but have you seen me making any comments on other people's spelling or grammar since I joined up? I hope not. It's rude.

and the person who made the comment originally, made another comment, just couldn't stop being rude. If you keep going when someone has already told you it's inappropriate, that means you are a jerk, period. Looking for a fight.

 

I only complain about peoples' spelling when it takes me WAY too long to read their thoughts. If I'm struggling through the sentences, it's time to tell the guy to learn how to ****ing spell or else nobody will ever take him seriously.

EDIT: I hope this guy or gal knows how to spell for real, because this wouldn't pass kindergarten. I want to know if misspelling comes naturally to him, just like knowing how to spell comes naturally to me?

Yes, I know. I didn't say the critic was right, I just said it bothers some people to see words misspelled.
And that scolding someone publicly is not appropriate just because it's a scolding for scolding someone.

It doesn't bother me to see others misspell words or use Internet shorthand. I don't like to misspell stuff myself, though. When I do (and I surely do), it's not on purpose.

But back to the point. Text language is lazy when your sitting at a keyboard.
This has nothing to do with education and all to do with how you may perceive everyone else who is reading you post.

I went ahead and took the liberty of underlining all of YOUR grammatical errors here.

1. "your" should be "you're" as it is a conjunction between the words "you" and "are"

2. There should be a comma between the word "education" and the word "and"

3. I could go about correcting this in several ways. The simplest way to correct this would be to use "your" instead of "you" to express ownership of the post. If you insist on using "you", then the verb itself must be changed. For example, this particular sentence fragment could be made into "...watching you post."

I don't have any English degrees. So if I am wrong, would someone with an English degree please correct me?


Oh...and that last bit about being "back to the point" is not at all on point because, survey says, this thread is supposed to be about "What do u do for a living and how old are u???"





Sorry to the OP for jacking this thread like this. Ricohman's persistent rudeness is upsetting, distracting and unnecessary to any part of this thread.

 

I can use what ever i want to use on here its not up to U what i use. If i don't want to spell out you and just put U that is up to me. Oh wow u have been carrying guns at work big man. I do more than just carry a gun. Oh and if u have done so many tactical ex than why would u call it a gun. Any one knows never call it a gun only half asses do that. And U know nothing u have not seen where i have been. I have been to more countrys in one year than i beat u have been in ur life. But enough with the pissing contest. Oh yea and doing tactical runs in the states does not count. And for some reason u think that i care how some random person over the internet perceives me. I could care less i know who i am and am very happy with my life and who i am. Can u say the same
