Angry Whiners

Jeeez is it just me or is there a plethora of newbie whiners coming out of the wood work.
Over on the Australian OZ Honda board they've even taken notice of this .
The Fit is what it is guys - it's cool to compare but the bitching is going to hit the fan. If you hate it that much maybe you should be letting Honda know directly.
For the rest of us, enjoy another great Honda model now available stateside

I am a diehard Honda fan, and I love what the company stands for. I only buy Honda/Acura cars. But that doesn't mean I think everything they do is the right decision.

There is nothing wrong with voicing complaints. How else would Honda know what they need to add/fix?

I personally am disappointed that the USDM Fit doesn't have 4-wheel discs and isn't available with a moonroof.

Angry It's not whining mofo!

It's anger!! The other side of the world has always received the better cars and when a model such as the fit finally arrives they down grade it which is a BIG LET DOWN!! Every one is watching the fit and what it gets over seas, and they have been hoping for the same thing only to learn that it sucks compared to the over seas model!!! It is actually Honda's fault for hiding the damn specifications for so long that people thought they were going to get a nice fuel economy car, instead they give us a gas guzler. Screw that crap!! Many of us have been waiting for a long time and putting off on buying a new car just to wait to see what the Fit will have.

In Canada it seems we can buy this car with no air, So I hope I can buy it for $250/month with taxes. A new Honda 5 door hatch with a 5 speed for $250/month. I think that rocks.

As far as the rear disc goes, 99% of us here can't drive a car to that limit where rear discs are needed. Besides, with the shit tires it will come with rear disc is overkill.

I think the Fit will be great, and can't wait till April to buy one.

I somewhat agree. It does sound like there a lot of people complaining. But at the same time they have the right to. I personally do not think the US Fit is a let down. I believe it's great and also think that anyone who thought it would be like the European or Japanese models had WAY HIGH hopes as the US version is usually nothing like the others.

Hmmm... how is 38 mpg a gas guzzler? At 38 mpg, it ranks in the top 10 in gas milage for all cars... that's like number 7 out of 268 or something. To think it's a gas guzzler is just plan .... I will not even use the words.

Ya...38mpg is not bad at all.

I'm getting 18city / 24hwy in my Pontiac GTP that has a supercharged V6. For a car that puts out 240hp, I don't even consider that a gas guzzler.

Now...all those SUV's out there getting barely 11mpg, that's what I would call a guzzler. How about that Dodge Ram SRT pickup....I believe that thing gets in the neighborhood of 9mpg!!!

A lot of people (even myself included) were hoping to see 40mpg or better on the Fit...but really 38hwy aint bad at all.

It's a guzzler compared to what they have previously offered. I won't compare it to the standard car offerings: those are just plain disgraceful and not worthy of consideration.

But this, this offering! After all this waiting and anticipation, it's like having the rug pulled out from underneath the feet. I am kind of angry, too.

It's as if they see us in the USA as a bunch of illiterate, innumerate, ignorant, obese, cheez-doodle munching, ecologically oblivious HP- and torque-hungry NASCAR fan consuption monsters.

We are not all like that. Some of us are about as far from that as a person could possibly get. But they aren't giving us what we wanted so badly. It's almost as if they don't see us as worthy, because they gave it to the rest of the world.

No, just those who refer to the Fit as a "gas guzzler".

My S2000 delivers 20MPG and my M3 gives me 16MPG and I don't consider either gas guzzlers. Now the Hummer H2, thats a gas guzzler!

I don't see it as Honda doesn't consider us worthy or is trying to stick the U.S. market with an inferior product.

Unfortunately, what flies in the rest of the world, won't fly here, thanks to Uncle Sam. Our emissions requirements and DOT requirements make it so that the end product can not be what everyone else in the world gets to enjoy.

Look at any car overseas and compare that to what we have here...take the Ford Focus for instance. Why does Europe get the RS version and we don't? It's because of our bullsh*t regulations that we get the tamed down version of everything.

I'd like to suggest a new forum topic - fit bitchin' and send all the gripes there. Kind of a "let Honda know what you don't like / suggestion" catagory.
It sure would make it easier to actually talk about THIS car and it's positive points...

Angry Fit Is A Gas Guzzler!

Yo mav you don't know squat! The 1996 Honda Civic HX CVT got 34 city/38 highway. The 5 speed got 35 city/43 highway, AND THAT WAS 10 YEARS AGO MOFO!

Not to mention that the Honda Fit gets in US MPG about 35 city/ 50 highway over seas. If you calculate the weight differential between the us model and over seas the difference is only 300 pounds. Which would lessen the mpg to about 3 less. SO THE US MODEL SHOULD BE GETTING ABOUT 32 CITY/ 47 HIGHWAY, BUT WITH THE NEW ADVANCEMENT IN THE HONDA ENGINE THE MPG WOULD BE EVEN HIGHER!!!!! LIKE 33 -35 CITY / 47 - 50 HIGHWAY!!!!! SO it's no wonder people are pissed off that the US MODEL IS ONLY GETTING 33/38!!!! HONDA IS TOO SCARED THAT THE HIGH MPG WILL TAKE AWAY SALES FROM ITS MONEY MAKING HIGHBRIDS AND CIVICS!!! SURE HONDA WILL ATTRACT SOME YOUNG BUYERS TO BE LOYAL TO HONDA, BUT THEY MADE THE MISTAKE OF DOWN GRADING THE AMERICAN MODEL. MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO HONDA ARE DEFECTING TO BE LOYAL TO OTHER BRANDS SINCE HONDA GAVE THE AMERICANS A GAS GUZZLER!!!!!!!

Has anyone ever mentioned that the US figures may not be as bad after all. Outside the US, everyone is on the Litre system and I guess we are all not taking that into account.

What you maybe seeing for an overseas model Fit/Jazz could be Km/Litre as opposed to our Miles/Gallon, hmmmm.....

.62 US Miles = 1 Km
1 US Mile = 1.61 Kms

.26 Gallons = 1 Litre
1 US Gallon = 3.79 Litres

And plus, the US have more stricter emissions than any other country in the world.

I can't really speak for the others "whiners" on this site, but I can tell you that I have followed the Fit introduction since August. I am dissapointed with Honda mainly because of MPG. Maybe I was a fool to expect the US to have a gas sipper like the rest of the world. (I do not confuse imperial gallons with US gallons)

Anyway, I think your point is moot considering that most of the posters here complaining are basically in the same boat I am in. We have read the data on the Fit/Jazz across the world, and feel that the US is not getting the best product (in terms of efficiency).

The Fit is offering a nice package, but I think one of the things that drew me and others to this car initially were the expectations of high gas mileage. I do consider the mileage good, but maybe I am unreasonable to expect Honda to be great.
