haha it's really not THAT bad for it,
honda's are rev-happy engines.

the rev limiter is there for a reason

^^ don't tell me you shift redline too. lol, cool cool... but isn't it good for the engine also cause it removes carbon inside the carbuerator.

well it shouldn't be a recurring thing you know, but every once in a while i think you'll be alright.

i mean, it's a honda, what little torque it has is way up in the revs

i redline mine on occasion.... its a honda... its fine... i even hit the dreadded rev limiter a few times... that thing sux! just as your gettin goin fuel cut off... ew.... but i really wouldnt worry about it, just dont do it on every single start, or while your motor is cold and you should be fine

when im on the high way and im trying to get as fast as possible, i notice in like 4th gear i hit 5,000rpms and it drops to 4,000 by itself then slowwwwwlllyy makes its way back up then i shift into 5th (i drive an AT with paddle shifters obv)

im assuming this must be the rev limiter. how the hell can we get rid of this blasted thing?

totally been high revving. also discovered that with my 5AT...it doesnt shift for you...so you will just bounce off the limiter. haha. not the best for the car sure...but no worries as long as you keep up with the maint!

i usually shift at about 4.5-6k depending on how steep the road is...if its down hill i can get away with a nice 3k shift. but for the most part i stay in the high rpms for a smoother ride(lightened flywheel). i have had no issues and i also take it to red line several times a month. its probably not the best idea to redline is all the time. i believe our rev limiter is just a fuel cut off of some sort and really wont do much damage at all like on the older cars.

Hey... I have to punch it at on-ramps too. Lol!

Risky... You're a brave soul for doing that.

was not on purpose really...
i was trying out the flappy paddle gear box...and i didnt shift i guess...and then it bounced a few times (wasnt flooring it though), cos i thought it was like all my other friend's cars that shift for you when you hit red.
Kinda cool that it doesnt. Not cool that it didnt when the car was so new. haha. I guess i'll see if any damage is down the road. My OD just rolled to 4700 last night.

does that happen in s mode? rev limiter shouldnt kick in till redline. also it shouldnt drop 1000 rpm from the limiter. maybe you floor it in 4, then the AT drops you into 3, then when you see that thing at 5k rpm thats it shifting into 4th...

yea it happens in S mode when i hit 5000rpm in 4th gear when im using paddle shifters, it drops 1000 rpms then takes forever to get back up.

Dang...i forgot the reason for the drop in RPM's, but i was explained why by a car developer. I believe it has to do with reminding you that you're speeding. It only happens in the newer cars, and it'll happen around 80mph, and you can really feel it kick in when you are flooring it.

These cars are fuel injected, no carburetor. You drive a Honda get used to Redline.

I redline out of 1st and 2nd on a daily basis. I've tapped the revlimiter over a few dozen times and I have about 20K miles. This car is pampered compared to the last few I've owned. (They had power)

I think it is almost impossible to drive a Fit without redlining...they have so little power that you HAVE to push them on the highway, etc. I hope they are made to withstand this, everyone says so.

agreed. i find myself redlining all the time just to move around the highway. although i do drive pretty spirited.

Y'all make me feel like I drive like a granny. I rarely redline, though shifting at ~3500, I'm not slow at all. I don't even touch the redline while getting up to highway speed! Though, touching the redline is fun XD You'd be surprised how fast you can go in 3rd.
