Tis' the Season to be Racing
On my way to work at 6:30 a.m. on 12/24/08, I was surprised how much ego people have in their cars.
As usual, I exited Coldwater Canyon Blvd. to get to West Los Angeles that morning. Coldwater Canyon Blvd. has initially two lanes that merge into one once you begin to enter the canyon and past Harvard Westlake (school).
That day, I was surprised to find a WRX STi and a 350Z w/19" wheels and dual exhaust. I'm not sure what kind of mods. were present, if anything. I entered the second merging lane and was waiting for the red light to turn green. I did a rolling stop and had the vehicle rocking back & forth as I was waiting for the light to change.
For some reason, the person in the black STi, either thought I was challenging him/her or simply just wanted to prove his vehicle was faster than my Fit.
The light goes green, he accelerates and drives about 70 mph in a 25 mph school zone. I drive at a normal speed of 35 mph and end up behind the Z up the canyon. I pass this cyclist at high speed. Glad that I saw him, but what an idiot for riding his bike in such a high traffic area. The Z is also racing to get ahead of me as it was 2 car lengths behind me. He gets in front and then we start driving up the canyon aggressively.
It gets crazy on this one lane road with its twists and turns. I'm driving through the canyon at about 65 mph, turning hard and cutting the corners to keep up with the Z. Whoever he is, he knows I'm behind him. *Blame the yellow PIAA fogs for that.
Throughout the whole time, I am able to keep up with him with about a 10-15 ft. distance from him. Apparently, the Z had alot of horses but nowhere to displace it based upon how narrow the road was and how sharp the curves were.
I never gave my Fit credit for being an agile or quick car. I'm still dreaming about my old DC2. I was able to hold my ground and keep up with his Z. I think the suspension upgrades really made a difference.

The car did not sway as it did before and handled more like my DC2. I drove this road many times before when the car was just stock.
I guess I'll be keeping the Fit for awhile.
The story doesn't end. I was a bit hungry and stopped to get breakfast at a drive through. Then I get hit up by a girl in an AE86 w/a panda paint job (Initial D). She then takes off at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. I give up. The canyon driving was already enough excitement for the morning & I didn't need any tickets to make Xmas eve. more enjoyable as it already was to the fact that I had to work while everyone was on vacation.
Does anyone have any similar stories?

lol nice story! the Fit surprises most ppl... i kept up with C6 ZO6 vette on a curvy road.... man was he pissed when his tires were squeeling and heres a tiny little fit gaining on him around the bends! lol of course on the straits his big ass V-8 powered him away, but really how much skill does it take to step on the right pedal?
