Is your Fit an MT or AT transmission>

I really like this car, hopefully Im getting one this summer

So what transmission do you have or plan to get on your Fit?

Ive notice in Japan theres a lot of ATs even for the tuned cars ...do most people in Japan prefer the AT over the 5MT, at least in sales?

Any comments ?

Thanks.

I'll be getting a manual. Cheaper, and easier to fix.

Japan specifically has CVT right?

I'm getting manual. More fun. I live in SF, but i rardly drive and park in hills so I don't see a problem. A fit will be my "fun" car. I don't want AT cuz its boring. Plus, if possible, I may upgade engines to make a fast fit, so manual will open that option up.

The Japanese really prefer an automatic transmission. This mantra applies to all cars, whether they be economy or performance. I.e., you could get an automatic integra GSR but only manuals were available in America.

CVT only if 1.3/1.4 i-DSI. Manual only if 1.5 VTEC.

I got into a taxi the other day and was shocked to see it had an automatic. Over 5 years here and that is the first one I have seen. Granted, the taxi companies are cheap, but are there any autos that even come close to the efficiency, reliability, and simplicity of a manual? Those taxis are run almost 24 hours a day in traffic most people couldn't imagine if they haven't seen it. That's not even including the fun-to-drive factor

Lacking the option of the Audi/VW DSG, mine will be a manual.

Full auto here - way too much stop and go city traffic for my old ankle...
Even my cycle is a 7 speed auto...

Cool

Mine will be a MT; cause I'm a hardcore driving enthusiast who thinks manual shifting is a form of self expression and mastered to be an artform . Plus I'm part of this 'rice generation' who's desire is to fully maximize and not bastardize the 4cyl import engine.

The can mufflers I have thrown on previous cars in the past are music notes to my ears and add to my symphony of sound and self expression while driving free. I live in a rural/suburb type area with open roads so creeping traffic is of no concern. To tell you the truth, I feel better in the Canadian winter months heavy to moderate snowfall while controlling the car with the stick. To each his/her own I guess.

My next car, Fit or otherwise, will as all previous ones be manual. I'm not a car enthusiast; I might one day drive a properly tuned CVT, electric, or other "invisible" transmission, but with today's production technology manual wins.

I don't drive stick shift, so mine will be automatic.

If that is because you never have, and don't know how, you are doing yourself an injustice. Find a friend with a manual, and ask him to teach you. It is actually quite easy, and you might just be a convert.

Actually, I have to drive an automatic. I was born with Spina Bifida and have no sensation in the back of my legs, so switching back and forth from the pedals is not an option. I'm lucky to be driving without hand controls.

I hope you have a great time when you get your Fit., and wear out the paddle shifters.

I think its a curse! AT nowadays is better htan manual. If you learn manual, you'll want to use those skills, and delusionally convince yourself MT gets higher mileage and speed.

I only want MT b/c I saw that world. It's like a drug you are addicted to, and theres no benefit of it.

The thing is, a car equipped with a MT should be faster and more efficient than the same car with an AT. With no torque convertor, there is less drivetrain loss and more power delivered to the driving wheels.

I was in sales for 18 years, and 12 of those eighteen years was in a MT. During that period I covered over 500,000 miles, and I just plain got sick of pushing in the clutch. I got tired of shifting all the time, so I switched to an AT, and it was like a luxury to me.

I had a 1989 Civic Si that I bought new. It goes without saying that it had a MT, and I admit it was a blast to drive. But my new car needs are the following:

1. Fuel economy
2. High quality
3. Style
4. Price
5. Fun to drive

I want to save money on gas, but I want to look good doing it. I venture to say that most of the people here who want an AT are probably closer to forty than they are to thirty.

If I buy a Fit, it will be a Sport with an AT.
