Just another reason to buy the manual. Save yourself 800 bones you can put toward modifications. I sure hope they rethink their auto-to-manual ratio of production/importation.

The fit sport auto is real high for a car of its kind. I still find the prices higher than most people expected

I was looking at the FIT sport automatic, but I think the price is a little too high. The Caliber starts in the same price range too, so does the Vibe. Which are other nice hatches, I was looking at.

Thumbs down

>>Fit Sport Automatic $15,970

This is kind of pricey. I just learned that the base Golf V will come in under $16,000, but that's probably w/ MT. The Golf has a bigger engine (2.5L 5 cy., 150 HP) but worse fuel efficiency. Maybe I'll hang onto my '96 Golf a while longer.

Awww... man.

I wanted to buy a sport for less than $14k.
We have a corolla for that price and its stronger. That Xa isnt looking so bad anymore.

Fit Sport for $14k; I'd love that price but that isnt a realistic MSRP.

By the way, when configured similarily to the Fit Sport, the Scion xA price isnt that great...

Here is the math:

Scion Xa Price : $12780
+
Side/Side Curtain Airbags: $650
Scion Security: $499
Fog Lights: $350
15" Alloys: $665
Rear Spoiler: $385
________________

= $15329 compared to $15170 for a Fit Sport.

Also, the Fit Sport comes with a full body kit as well as cruise control, the latter isn't an option for Scion xA. If one were to get an AT, the xA only has a 4 speed whereas the Fit Sport AT has 5 gears with paddle shifters. The xA also isnt as versatile when in comes to seating and storage configurations. Also, the cargo space with all seats up is tiny; around 50% smaller than what the Fit offers.

I want a Fit non-sport with cruise control. Why can't Honda offer the N.A. market that?
I could not care any less about the spoilers on the sport package. I just want cruise control and I don't see me buying a Fit sport for over $15k just to get the damn cruise control. My .02, $15k is too high for a Fit sport, because taxes, etc will put it over $16k out the door for sure. I'd be better off buying a used car with nicer amenities for the same price or less.

I want a BMW 330 with forward firing machine guns, rocket launchers and that nifty button to leave an oil-slick on the road behind me, and I only want to pay $12,000.00 for it. Not a penny more. If I can't get it for that, I am going to whine and bitch about how unfair life is, and why can't BMW give me exactly what I want for the price I want to pay. Those bastards. I'm outta here, I am going to go looking for the Yugo forums.

I guess if it's too high price you don't buy it and shut up. LOL- just kidding around.

That is exactly the problem. Everyone is whining about having to pay this and not getting that. If you don't like it, or you think the price too high, tough. For me, I will happily walk into the Honda dealer and plunk down what I think is a fair price for a product I want. That is the entire basis for this capitalistic system. Sellers are free to create a product to sell at a price they think is fair. Buyers are free to pony up or walk away. The seller either sells or dies. Capitalism is the economic equivilent of Nature's Law. Let it work. But for (enter your chosen supreme supernatural being here) sake, stop whining.

I think it is a marketing mistake to not have cruise on the base model. Who wants cruise? Lazy old people like me who drive conservatively, and are cheap and want the base model. Who doesn't care about cruise? People who are into performance and those who drive in the city, not the long highway drives, who would probably rather have the sport model anyway.

Depends.
Are they marketing the fit as a highway cruiser or a commuter slash around town type of car?
Is the Fit the kind of car you spend upwards of four hours with on the highway?
Marketing it as a highway cruiser would make cruise control a desirable accessory in that sense but I don't think its built for that type of long distance driving (just my opinion).

Thumbs down More than expected

The prices were more than expected and yes as a consumer we can walk away. Many probably will. I've even already left a deposit, and I know its not much more than what I was hoping but it's a roadblock for me. I can get a used Scion XA for $8-9K or a used Matrix for about $11K. That may not be much to some of you but if I'm gonna buy an entry level car I expect a college student could afford it. I hope Honda reconsiders this price. I know the Fit will still sell but I think people will be turned off by the sticker price.
