(Canadian) tire repair kit
(Canadian) tire repair kit
Having worked many defense projects involving joint US/Canadian cooperation, I have developed considerable affection for our neighbors to the North. I wonder why Honda gives them a tire repair kit rather than a 'real' compact spare tire. The GE8 owner's manual says this is the case for Canadian automatic transmission models. The logic escapes me. Do Canadian Fit owners have the opportunity to buy a compact spare to keep in that compartment? That flat fixer goo will not help if the puncture extends outside the tread.

They say it was done for MPG, specifically a rating type thing.
Could be Honda got a break on import duty, more likely anticipating a tax credit for buyers.
I know it sounds weird, but pretty sure it is along these lines. Must have been based on a weight threshold as I believe the 80? lb lighter manual tranny cars got the spare
Canada also got the lightweight aluminum disc (spokeless super aerodynamic) type alloys on the LX model for maybe a similar reason (almost afraid to post the pic as some foo will hate on the wheels)
