what does GD1, 2, 3, 4,5 MEAN?

GDx (x being replaced by a number) denotes the type of the car, and also tells you the drive and engine size.
To find your GD, look under your bonet on the blue metal plate. It should state your GDx (x being the number)

I had no idea there were any AWD Fits.
How does the system work? I know that with a little tweaking, one can make an Impreza RWD, think that this would be doable with the Fit?
Or even better, what all would go into making a USDM GD3 AWD using a donor car?
