Fit versus Yaris

They're both great cars. Plus my fiance is mad at me that I'm getting the Fit, since she just bought the Yaris liftback. This might make her happy.

Better offer to swap to keep the peace, don't think the picture will cut it.

yaris hatch only comes in 2-door and the full slate of options are only for the sedan. at the moment (at least in my ZIP) the hatch isn't even available as a stick shift. the fit has two trims. much better.

Yaris is a tiny car. Fit is more like the XA. I haven't seen the Fit yet, but I actually think it is closer to a Matrix than people on this board want to admit.

No competition.

Yaris on car and driver was ranked one step below the kia rio5. Yaris has a yucky stick shift feel, speedo is in the middle, slow, bad control (at high speeds, they say u better grab the wheel tight b/c it'llsteer on its own), etc. The only variables yaris wins are price and fuel economy.

XA is the previous generation Yaris (which was also sold in notchback form as the ECHO). So I'm pretty sure the new Yaris is bigger than the XA - the sedan is for sure and probably the hatch would be if it cam 4-door.

Actually, the Scion xA is essentially the US version of the Toyota iST sold in Japan. I'm hoping that Toyota wises up and replaces the xA with a new version based on the Ractis "tall wagon" now sold in Japan.

The Yaris liftback is available as a manual. The "build your own" site makes it appear that it isn't, but it actually is. Call around to your local dealers.

Just being friendly, stranger!

I have reason - better options on the Matrix base model (that is, cruise control). The Fit? Well, there are only so many ways you can package plastic.

The Matrix is also ULEV.

I test drove the Yaris, don't really like the way it feel. But I am bias, since I always drive a Honda.

The Yaris is smaller than the Fit, and the XA.
The Fit is MUCH smaller than the Matrix, but similar in proportion...

Yeah. Saw a Yaris Liftback at my local Toyota dealer recently. The rear seats were folded down and the cargo area still looked tiny. I forget the exact numbers, but I did some research on it and I think the cargo space for the Yariis hatch is roughly half that of a Fit.

The interior room on the Yaris is tiny. I wasn't sure if I could put a decent load of groceries in the trunk; let alone any kind of sport equipment or luggage.
