to replace it with an aftermarket unit, just buy the oem dashkit from for the nav/vsa model. It can hold double din units (you have to make your own bracket i think)

Rear anti roll bar is a must! - feels better when you corner, kills understeer and less chance to roll over - too bad it is not standard

- Drivers arm rest
- Body color under spoiler package
- 16" alloy wheels w/ wheel locks
- rear sway bar
- Color keyed door handles
- Fog lights
- heated side mirrors
- passenger seat back pocket
- Leather wrapped steering wheel
- 6 speaker stereo + USB Connector (not really great anyway)
- Exhaust tip

Overall during the test drives I had the Sport model felt a lot tighter in the suspension and generally had more convenience items included as standard. Yes you have to pay extra for the convenience but I think it was justified, if you were to add them on individually it would cost much more in the end.

I really hated the interior color of the base model so a sport was a no brainer for me. The added wheels and tires were also a big factor.

For most cars, the mid-trim level is the best value. The base model is usually stripped down to meet a price point for advertising purposes, and it costs more to bring it up to mid-trim spec than buying the mid-trim veersion in the first place. Top of the line usually gets some added frou frou that boosts the cost, but does little to add to the actual utility of the car (although VSA would be nice, and will be required on all cars by federal law in a few years).

I've bought a few base model cars and upgraded them, but my most satisfying cars have had all the things I wanted when I rolled off the parking lot.

I prefered the look of the sport, with the body kit and wheels, to the look of the base.

On Honda's build a Fit site, adding the extras I did want to the base brought the price up close to the sport, so that what I got.

Also, my personal tendency is to keep the cars I buy for a long time, '85 GTI for 10 years, '92 F-150 for 17 years, so I know to get what I want, rather than be annoyed with myself longterm for spending a little less, and not getting what I wanted in the first place.

It didn't hit me until a month after I bought my '09 MT sport that having a manual will hurt resale value. It's going to be my daily driver until I'm done with college, have a place of my own and can afford to buy another new car so that I may dismantle my Fit and throw a K20 in there! ^.^

I just sold my car (I am buying a fit now, hopefully soon) and I was surprised how many people wanted a 5 speed.

i chose a base, my own lip kit.. my own spoiler, after market steering wheel so no need for paddle shifters, upgraded sound system so no need for sport model system, did my own fog lights, so the sport costed what,, 2grand more than a base? with the 2 grand i did my own modifications and even saved more $

yea but if you had a sport you wouldnt want a new steering wheel, and didnt you have issues with your fogs for over a year? you still didnt lncl cost of alloy rims, cruise control, leather vs vinyl steering wheel in there and your lip kit in no offense is a little loose. Dont lie evan you know you wanted a sport, you even told me

the GE sport is way worth its heftier price tag... it gives you all of the amenities that a modern car should have and increased performance and style for added fun. It basically makes a fit worth having

oh and honestly, not everyone is like us and is willing to add stuff themselves, they'd rather just get everything to begin with and have it done right so they dont gots to worry bout anything

base = poor mans rental.

sport = worthy of parking in driveway.

^this is quoted from a car mag. in my opinion if $1500 came easy and was within your budget you got the sport.

on the other hand, if you wanted to cheap out on a econo box and thought whats the point in a $1500 option on a cheap car you have the base.

except for about 3 members on the entire forum the ones who own a base wanted the sport but went cheapo and bought the base.

the sport contains so much more than the base. the leather steering wheel, cruise, keyless entry, ipod usb, rear sway, and the 16 alloys these alone are worth $1500 to me.

the armrest, paddle shift, map lights, exhaust finishers, body colored side mirrors, fogs, exterior sports trim, black cloth interior are just a few extras that came along with the uprated package.

imo the base and sport fit does not even look like the same car when you spot one driving along.

Sport cause of the looks and add-ons. The extra money over the Base seemed well worth it to me.

Now how many base owners would of went Sport if the base came with the 1.3 liter engine like most of the world?

I don't agree with accordguyintake about you wouldn't change the steering wheel if you would of went Sport, because well I changed my wheel because I don't like the semi-truck size of the stocker. Yeah I know it is not really, but it is BIG, but then again all of my cars I have always changed out the stock wheel for something smaller. Current wheel is 300mm in diameter, 16.67% less overall.

Oh i was specifically referring to EVAN2k's car, he has an automatic so the sport steering wheel would've had paddles, otherwise if we were talking about manual than yes throw the stock one out! haha

Actually if the base had a 1.3 i think more people would get it for the extra MPGs. i possibly would if it wasnt TOO slow

I checked with my insurance company. According to them, no! Well, no, with an exception. If you get the Fit Sport with VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) your insurance actually is cheaper than it would be for the Fit Base. They also seemed to take pleasure in telling me they were not at all intimidated, insurance wise, by the Fit Sport's "Sport" assignment. When talking to my agent the idiot (agent) across the room actually chuckled when I said Fit "Sport"!

I asked him what he drove, and he lost his sarcastic smile, while looking down, telling me he drove a Volvo wagon. Then I laughed out loud, very briefly!

Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with Volvos if that's what you like. Everyone gets the point though, I'm sure. He did!

Anyway, my insurance is turning out cheaper since I went Sport with VSA and navigation. Was good news on this end.

From what I've seen of '08 GDs in used inventory, considering it's mileage, it seems to be a fairly good price. Then again, there are other variables. Have you ever seen/experienced the roads in Brooklyn and NYC? Lol... daily driving there is almost like doing 3 day Rally Champonships! NY potholes have their own potholes!

Well ok, not that bad... I'm exaggerating. Still, you should be careful... driving constantly in and around NYC can be some grueling and even rough driving... especially hard on a small cars such as the Fit. You never know... the guy could have run the crap out of that Fit.

Personally, I wouldn't purchase a Fit from the NYC area unless I could demo it really well first.

Look around at Honda dealers for 2008 Fits... that will give you a rough idea of pricing. Dealers generally charge more. Still, I think you'd be surprised how much Fit's generally do hold their value.

Good luck.
