40.80682162 mpg after 1030km

Title says it all. All my driving was in the city. I have a 5 speed manual with an FM radio in it. And I am using the Americian gallon. With a Canadian gallon I am getting 49.007mpg. AKA 20.187KM per Litre. Fit is teh bomb.

Also want to add I am driving like a good boy, no red line here. Have not broke 110km/h or 3900rpm.

Wow, nice. Probably a stupid question since you're living in Canada, but have you been using A/C at all?

That is so what I wanted to hear.

I think you need to go on a nice long road trip at about 120 kmph and report back on the mileage.

Good question, we had snow on the ground last week, so yeah, no A/C use in that milage.

Figured as much, but that's encouraging. I was just wondering how you did so much better than the C/D guys - guess they were using A/C and including their tests in the overall mpg figure (which is pretty encouraging in and of itself).

Yeah, they might be pushing the Fit more than I am. I driving mine easy. Why buy a fuel sipping car and then stand on the pedal?

Most anyone should be able to pull 35mpg+ from this car with ease, or drive nice and get 40 like me.

Heh, good point. I'm just worried about the effect of A/C, since I'll be in a fairly hot place with it. Let us know how subsequent tankfuls go!

40mpg in the city is phenomenal.

I'll have an A/T, so my mileage will be ever so slightly worse, but I'll also be using the paddle shifters, so it might not be that different.

I don't use A/C that often.

Viva Fit.

Very good Daņiel. You drive like me!

Still wondering about the FM radio bit. What is the association with fuel economy?

hahaha, it's something that popped into my mind as I was typing, so I put it in. It's an old joke from The Bob and Doug McKenzie LP.

The sticker that was on my car at the dealer (that is now in tucked away) said 40 city and 49 hiway. Looks like I get that and better.

Is there a fuel consumption meter in the speedo? According to a Malaysian review of the Fit 1.5L VTEC, this exists in the Malaysian/Australian version of Fit:

The Malaysian/Australian version I am reviewing here has a leather bound steering wheel and the speedo is also equipped with a fuel consumption computer (measuring in units of litre/100km) which is selected via the trip meter selector button. Thus the trip meter button will toggle between 3 modes, overall accumulated mileage, trip mileage and trip fuel consumption.
