It's stickied in the DIY forum. ;)

Nifty little idea, I may be trying that out as my first mod to the car! :) On the opposite side of the spectrum a bit, does anyone know how to adjust the clutch pedal position or if it can even be done?

I'm 6'1, but I have long legs. I've got the seat all the way back, reclined a good ways back (if I look 90 degrees to the left, I can look out the back window). Toss in size 12 feet, and I have a hell of a time getting comfortable in small cars! In fact, I have *NEVER* driven a car in which I had the seat in any position other than "all the way back"

One of the first things I did was to cut some of the sound deadening stuff out of the footwell, immediately to the right of the throttle pedal. This allowed me to get my foot comfortably on the pedal, rather than feeling like it was just my toe on there. It's a small thing, but it feels like it gives me about an inch of extra space there.

Next, (and I have no pics), I took the seat-mounted armrest off and used a knife to scrape down the grooves that "stop" it at the "down" position. Not much, but again, a little bit helps, and it dropped the armrest enough that it's actually comfortable to use once the seatback is reclined.

Lastly, and relevant to this thread, I found a cheap, easy way to give the throttle some more resistance, and it's so dead simple that you may laugh. Instead of adding resistance by extension, I added resistance using a section of a cylindrical, preformed polystyrene... aw, what the heck.

I shoved a slice of swimming pool noodle under the carpet, behind the pedal. To distribute the force, I put two layers of rubber over it, conveniently laying on my garage floor from trimming the cheapo floormats to fit. The results are encouraging. The initial tip-in is still very light, but the resistance builds progressively. I'm not entirely convinced that pushing the pedal all the way down vs 3/4 of the way actually makes a difference... Certainly none that the seat of my pants can tell, except for the instant MPG gauge shooting all the way to the left.

We'll see how long it holds out. It may lose it's resistance to compression after a while, but there's a LOT of pool noodle left!

NOTE: This is the first vehicle in which I have NOT gotten a manual - I would've suffered the foot discomfort for the ability to select my own gears if I had NOT been able to paddle shift it when I wanted. The footrest is nice, but I want to be able to stretch my left leg out and 'pop' my knee from time to time. With the seat all the way back and reclined, I can stretch my left leg, and by putting my left foot up on the firewall behind the dash, I can fully extend my left leg. My right leg, depending on how I position it, sometimes rests against the console, or my knee against the auto shifter lever.

For what it's worth, I find the manual more useful on the highway - I can hold it in 5th and downshift as *I* want. Around town? Nah, don't care. And, I can drop the wheel a bit without having to worry about my knee constantly coming up and down!
