well, its an issue.

lets be honest and say that MOST of the people who drive fits arent ballers who just want to save some gas money. for most of us, b and c segment cars are all that can be afforded. (nothing wrong with that either.)

heck even the k swap to me is a bit outlandish...but again, thats from a money/i like the way my car handles perspective.

k swaps are cool and all, but i'm a fan of hondas for what they are, not just what is feesible with them. (very few guys like me who are still 'in' to hondas)

you know what would make a good candidate for an r swap? the ge8. pass emissions, extra kick, MUCH BETTER mpg than the k, regular fuel. the newer l15 has the same integrated exhaust manifold as the r18. engine bay seems to have more room too.
Selling the L15 on ebay would help offset the cost of the swap. But I like your thinking.

Kylerwho - I hope you succeed with the F swap!

Yeah, I know. Like the Shogun Festiva.

"The Festiva was made forever cool in 1990 as the recipient of the Taurus SHO V6 powertrain, RWD and massive box flares when Rick Titus and Chuck Beck created the epic Shogun. Jay Leno owns two."

well if it takes a c23b to look badass to kelso then im going to have to do it. ha ha ha.

.... after looking at it the fit doesnt have a big enough engine compartment. the struts are too close together, but making the fit a mid engine car might be a little tricky.

looks like i need a second fit to practice this idea.

yeah the only problem is where the intake manifold sits up against the firewall. you need to add some custom mounts to tilt the engine forward.

combining older motors with newer cars = FAIL.

it would cost ALOT to do. probably around the 20k mark. you would have to rip out the entire front subframe and make it a tubular frame, then custom fab some A frame remote engine mounts. the C32B isnt tall at all but it is super super super wide. i dont even want to think about what would be used for engine management. gheez, all of this is making my head spin.

WTF you talking about kelsey???

i would just strip the interior and build a nice roll cage and where the spare tire area is i would cut out the floor and set the motor right about the rear axle and build a custom wall between the driver and the motor. mid engine rwd fit would be the real track killer.

screw fwd v6 swap headaches and go right for the aztec gold!

but making it mid engine would give the fit the weirdest weight bias ever!! i dunno, there is no easy way to do that unless you have the backing of a huge company like hasport willing to prototype some mounts and wiring harnesses.

or you marry some girlie with a butt load of money....

nah i have been doing alot of chassis design research lately and the gd3 is prime for a mid engine since most the weight is set right where the driver is. mid engine would give you a closer weight balance than the 70/30 balance now.

but then you have to ditch the torsion beam and redesign the suspension to be independent, lose floor rigidity of the fit which imo is the strongest part of the car, AND your custom axles would have to be super short. it would be absolutely nuts if someone did it, but i just dont see anyone doing it within the next 10 years.

its not cost effective for the performance gains so of course no one will do it. yes the floor is very rigid in the fit but what part you cut out could be compensated with the roll cage bracing to preserve the structure.

it would be more of a "look, honda, at what i built!"

hahaha a 5 door mid engine rwd honda. i think honda would scoff at it then go back to making cars with no guts.

hondas motto "four or more doors, forget about factory performance"

im really suprised that mugen finally got on board to add performance products to oem honda finally. you think a dad would help out his son's company. the japanese are deffinately differant.

i think the tsx holds its weight the best when it comes to 4 door performance honda's.
