I broke my Fit!

Leave it to me...

I went to flip down the 60% side of the magic seat. I used the lever on the drivers side front seat to move it forward when it broke off in my hand! I think Honda may have a little issue on their hands...that plastic lever needs quite a bit of force to get the seat to move.

Not that it's that big a deal...now I just have to move the front seat forward the normal way instead of the cool Honda Fit way.

So, has it happened to anyone else?

Sorry, I meant to add that I have only had the car 2 weeks and 1200 miles.

I am just going to wait until my first oil change to get it replaced.

you don't / shouldn't yank on the lever.. it should come down easy

i did mine over and over (to demo to my friends) and it takes no effort

I think the lever is a little tricky to get used to.

I went over this about 2 weeks ago. The lever is used only to release the front seat. To push it forward use the back of the headrest, or back of the seat. Honda is aware of this, and there response is to have Sales Consultants explain this feature. Looks like your guy dropped the ball. It is covered by the warranty. If anybody in geaorgia reads this I have a Blue Sport Manual available (no markup).

Rarely will you ever see me bash Honda even in the least.

However, the seat thing is not the greatest. I pulled the lever to start to rotate it when it broke off in my hand. I did not try to move the seat using the lever. The first two times I had no problem, and moved the seat by pushing on the back of the seat. It seemed like common sense to not use the lever to move the seat; it feels somewhat flimsy to ever try that.

I have noticed that both front seats in my car have the tendancy to stick in place when you go to move them, even when using the lever in the front. I have started to rock the seat using the headrest as I sort of jiggle the lever (the one under the front of the seat). That seems to get it moving every time.

The force needed to simply engage that little lever on the side of the seat is more than that lever can handle IMO. I don't know how many people plan to use that lever often, or if the movement of it will loosen a bit over time, but I have a feeling you are going to see some sort of redesign after a ton of them break.

All in all, it's not a huge deal, and I know Honda will cover it under warranty.

If you are thinking about buying a Fit, please take this comment as a ridiculously MINOR DETAIL. I love the car to death and think it is an awesome value.

As for the salesman, he didn't drop the ball. I skipped the 297 point check as I never have the time. It's my 11th or so Honda and I don't need to be shown how to use windshield wipers. I would have broken the seat lever had I attended a 37 minute demostration of how to use said lever. Where salespeople usually drop the ball is not knowing jack about the car BEFORE the sale.

It's a Honda, not a chevy. You need to be nice, not like a chevy where you have to slam the door shut just so you can get it closed.

Are you saying Chevy's can take more abuse? Seriously, it's rediculous to say you have to be extra careful with the Honda. Honda needs to beef up the lever if this is more than a single-unit issue.

Actualy with my honda fit there is a difference between the driver side front seat and the passenger side front seat. It is something.... I am expecting the driver side to fail anytime. when I picked up my car from the dealer the sales person could hardly get the seat to function when she tried to pull the lever out then rotate. Another example is with the driver rear seat in the up position I can step in the back there and move the front passenger seat forward. This is an awkward position to do the task however it is easy. I am not able to do opposite. dont get me wrong I beleive these seats are a+ and I bought the car because of this feature. what i really expect is perhaps a cable is too tight and hopfully will loosen a bit.

why are you showing a web page with a motor scooter? Yes it is a honda jazz but it is a scooter not a car. I must be missing the point.

sorry about the big text being hard to read. I will make it simple.
The sales person had a tough time demontrating the drivers seat. I also have a tought time folding the driver seat for the same reason -the lever action (upper lever on left side of back porsion of seat). Also I notice that if I go to the passenger seat and do the same function it is much more easy.
Another problem I have it is to lay the front seats back. the front seat should join with the back seats to make a long lounge seat. does that make sense?

recline the rear seats first. use te lever you use to fold them forward but push them back. They move back just a little bit when they recline giving you room to lay the fron seats flat against them in refresh mode.

I havent had to slide my front seats forward at all. I took the rear head rests off so the seats will always just drop flat without moving the front seats forward. It also improves rear visibilty a lot too. I guess if im going to be drving around other people i'll put them back in to be safe.

Just my site, why have it if no one looks? You are missing the point, obviously.
