Lightbulb Speedometer

The speedometer in my new 2009 FIT sport is very colorful with the blue light BUT I can not see the red needle against the black background and I don't know how fast I'm going. If I look carefully I may see it but by that time I will have crashed.

This could have something to do with my red/green color blindness but I find others who have trouble seeing red on a black background. I don't think Honda gave this any thought.

Anyone else having a problem? Any solutions?

Turn the speedo/dash light down, it's a little knob usually located on the speedo and turn counter clockwise to turn down the blue light.

Unhappy Speedo light

Yes, thanks. I've had the car since Friday and didn't read the manual and would never have guessed that that's where the dimmer was.

My main problem is poor color vision and red against black is murder for me.

You can get a Scanguage. It has speed as one of the gauge display possibilities. The digital display is black letters on the color of your choice (although the colors are only visible at night, in the day light it appears as a typical LCD display).
