This is the 2010 Honda Fit, the five-door fuel-efficient and fun-to-drive small sporty car, which truly takes after its name and could “fit anything.” It’s interesting how it’s compact on the outside and yet, it’s incredibly spacious inside. Using multifunctional interior and high levels of refinement, the car offers multiple seating and cargo-carrying configurations. For excellent outward visibility, the exterior design has a “super-forward aero-form” that contributes to its aggressive, sporty stance. The 1.5-liter, i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine produces 117 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 106 lb-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard but a 5-speed automatic transmission is available too.
Under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) city/highway fuel economy rating, the automatic transmission Fit achieves f 28/35 miles per gallon. The manual transmission Fit and Fit Sport with either a manual or the available automatic transmission achieves an EPA city/highway fuel economy rating of 27/33 miles per gallon. Safety features include the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE) body structure, standard anti-lock brakes as well as dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, dual front-side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) and side-curtain airbags. These are standard equipment on all models.
Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA), commonly referred to as electronic stability control, is included on Fit Sport models equipped with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System. Standard amenities include air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD audio system with four speakers, MP3/WMA playback capability, Radio Data System (RDS), auxiliary audio input jack, power windows, power mirrors and power door locks. The Fit Sport adds alloy wheels, an underbody aero kit, rear roofline spoiler, fog lights, security system with keyless remote entry and cruise control. In addition, the Fit Sport audio system provides six speakers, a five-mode equalizer and a USB Audio Interface. The Fit Sport is available with the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition, featuring a 6.5-inch screen and more than 7 million points of interest.
Fit rental
The Fit has so many positive opinions about it. I have spent about 10 minutes behind the wheel of one at a dealership. But I would like to have more time to drive it - is there anywhere one can rent a Fit?

Just traded in an 2004 Accord 6cyl 6spd for a Fit Sport,5spd manual .The Fit handles better a lot less power,, but a twice fuel efficient car that grows on you.(and keeps me out of trouble with only 117 horsepower)GREAT CAR!!!!
Along with all that you said; I'm getting an average of 42 MPG with an occasional 43.6 MPG!!!! I love my 2011 Honda Fit Sport (with auto 5 speed trans)! It's like driving a hybrid without the HI-bird cost!!
Yeah, funny that you said that because when I was shopping for my Honda, in April of last year, I told my friend who was the sales person "I'll look at anything but that ugly Fit!" Then after my disappointment with the Civic's lack of space, my friend pointed at a celestial blue Fit Sport (that I now own) and "told" me that I was going to test drive it! She asked me if the blue one was okay to test drive, and my reply was "I don't care if the dang thing is pink, I'm NOT going to buy it! It's ugly!!" Well, good thing I didn't test drive a pink Fit! Hahaha!! After I drove it I had to have it! And now I'm liking the looks of it too!! Funny, I think.
More power means less MPG. That's the reason most of us bought the Fit in the first place. Maybe you would've bought the Civic Si?
Fit
Better tires, shocks, when the time comes. As for the rest, (the brakes issue is on stand by)the FIT is Great!!
[B]I looked at the Fit & Civic DX 4 door sedan stripped of all options except air conditioning back in 2008. The Civic cost over $1000 more, was cramped in the back seat, and would have required me to purchase a stereo to install later. The Fit base came with AC, a decent stereo, more head and leg room in the back seat, and could carry more than the Civic. Also, the blue color looked nicer than the colors offered for the Civic. People are paying more for the Civic model name, because it's the oldest model name for Honda, and people recognize the model. The Accord is the 2nd oldest model name, and people pay a premium for that model as well. The Fit is one of the best bargains Honda offers.
Please let me know how you get 42 MPG. Do you drive downhill to work both ways? I get 32 max!
Jamestowne: I have a 56 mi commute one way to work (almost all highway) and relatively flat. If I keep it close to 65 mph, and follow a big truck for most of the way, I can achieve 44 mpg. If I don't follow the big truck, and set the cruise control for 75, I get around 34 mpg. I just replaced the stock filter with a K&N, and my mileage went up just a tiny bit, but it feels stronger in regards to acceleration. 2011, manual trans.
