Hope to get this poll "stickied" so we can continue to see what folks are paying over the next 6 months or so and I can even vote myself once I make the plunge!

The "how much did you paid" post gave me the idea to simply do a poll on this.
Unfortunately, it will not take into account those that got ripped on the trade-in, ripped on the financing, paid dealer prep/etch/excessively high doc fees etc, overpriced add-ons, and on and on. You can just about bet 4 out of 5 of those voting below MSRP got rooked somewhere else.

Ask the dealers that visit here; there are so many creative ways to get the customer's money.

wonder how the dealership employees feel reading the vitriol and anger on the part of the would-be buyers on this forum? (I don't mean to threadjack--rhetorical)

- Search for Honda Dealers in your area that let you print-out a quote from there website like this Honda dealer in New Jersey . Take the quote with you when you shop.

- Next, certain Honda dealers have Best Price Policy’s, where if they can't beat any quoted price from another dealer; you get a set amount of cash. Try to find one.

The dealer I got my Fit from immediately put the $1000 over MSRP the moment I said I wanted the car. Right then and there I showed him the printed quote. He came up with a bunch of excuses as why not to by from the other dealer. But I wasn’t interested in any perks. He then went of to speak to the manager and came back saying that they’ll give it to me at MSRP. I then mention their Best Price Policy? He came back with a $50 under MSRP price. I countered with $600. Immediately with out asking the manager he said “no way”. I said I believe I can get the car for the price I want from another dealer. He said good luck. Out the door I went with my wife. Not a moment after my wife starting to drive out of the lot did the dealer come out saying that I can have it for $500 under MSRP.

You gotta be willing to take the chance and walk away from the deal. You really don't lose anything, you put the money back in the bank and let it collect interest and try again later. Believe me, there’s always room to price-haggle as the dealer will make the money back in holdbacks.

Here is some useful info on Dealer Holdbacks from Edmunds http://www.edmunds.com/advice/incent...ack/index.html

Good luck to anyone shopping for this fantastic car.
thats just a sign of a weak dealership with weak management, with zero understanding of the market.

if you are willing to walk, he should be willing to let you on a car like the Fit at 600 below msrp. this isnt some pilot or accord that the dealer know is just collecting dust.

for every person willing to walk out on a 50 below msrp deal, there are hundreds willing to take it at msrp.

Interesting poll. It is good to see that a fair number of people are getting them below sticker.

Whether A Person Paid Msrp Or Not I Think Largly Depends One If They Bought All The Other Stuff. Insurance, Car Polish, Accesories, Da Da Da Da Da. The Poll Is Better Than Nothing. Fortunatly Buying The Fit You Have Two Choices Not Including Color/transmision

Oregon and Washington were Fit-stripped when the cars were unloaded in April. After calling around and getting estimates, I felt "lucky" to pay $1000 over (with %5.74) to get the car in under 2 weeks (in theory). The dealers that can sell for $2000 over MSRP and deliver in 8 weeks aren't interested in negotiating much because demand is so high.

. There is a long list of other things they can sell you.... As far as acessories go the dealer I purchased from didnt seem well prepaired to sell accesories. I bought my accossories online from other dealers. I just count myself lucky that a no hassel deal went through at msrp with no strings attached. I have been told by a business friend that sometimes retailers drop the cost to msrp if you buy the insurence and other packege deals. You win in one way they win in another. My experience has been that also.

Ouch. But at least you understood why you were paying more. If you're willing to pay more, I don't see a problem with dealerships charging more. I put our name down a few weeks ago at Ron Tonkin Honda, and yesterday they said ours is being built on the 5th and should come in 25 days after that. WOO!

They only charge MSRP, thanksfully. My friend's parents decided they'd drive out from Sherwood to get theirs their, too, since they also had a blue one up for grabs being built on the same day as ours.

it usually takes a little bit longer then that.

build date to arriving at dealership = 45 days usually
