While it seems like an odd choice, it's not the first time I've seen the transition.

My buddy who went car shopping with me went from Fit --> Camry --> Rav4 --> Nissan X-trail (Canada only model SUV, smaller than Xterra).

The price went from 22k USD (Fit after tax) to 32k USD (Xtrail after tax), which is still quite a jump, although not as much as the US Fit --> FJ Cruiser

And you came on this board to tell us why? Why would we care? Do you want our approval? This is a Fit forum so most of the posts would be biased. It would be like after I buy the Fit, I go to the other forums, FJ Cruiser, Mini, Jeep, and tell them I chose not to buy there car.

This is the general discussion of the Fit forum. So it's perfectly fine to discuss why they picked the FJ > Fit.

Aside from ThatsMyCall and a few others, it's an interesting discussion to hear why they made their choice.

Approval? Are you ****ing joking? I assumed this is a car enthusiast forum; I assumed incorrectly. Instead, this forum is full of 12 year old "the Fit is the greatest car in the world" fanbois.

Holy crap, I'd say so. What the hell do you do for a living? How many cars do you have? How many do you need?

B.T.W. I love the RS4, maybe I am just jealous....

okay enough of the back and forth flaming. We don't want mods coming in here and banning people for obscene comments.

yeah right, now your crying, guess they won't let you return the FJ. I think my fit will smoke your FJ off the line, ditto from work to home or up the mountain. I considered a lot of other vehicles as well and I don't go, to say the Ridgeline board, and try and compare my fit to them. I'd say all these rides are somewhat about the attitude. I could drive a hummer if I wanted to, but I'd rather drive the Fit. I can appreciate that a lot of people just don't get it.
PS if you wonder where fuel prices are heading, check this out. Regards

I own an internet consulting firm and invest in real estate. My better half is a physical therapist.

Four cars, 2002 Honda S2000, 2007 Audi RS4, 2005 Mini Cooper S (wife's) and 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser (wife's).

I'm not comparing the FJ to the Fit.

Sure gas prices are raising but even at its current level, its no where close to what Europeans are paying. I'm a firm believer that alternative fuel technologies will emerge soon and become the standard within the next decade.

Those numbers might make you feel better, but I didn’t say it was faster timed to 60. Also, I wouldn’t recommend doing better than 100 mph in your FJ, just from my experience with SUV stability. The Fit will over take you in the corners. Would your FJ beat your mini home? Honestly I think the FJ is pretty cool, though I don’t like scratching up nice paint off road, I just couldn’t get past the looks.

That Toyota is a cute looking truck. Kinda reminds me of the 76 Bronco's that had the removable top.

Just like the real world, there's a mix of intelligent, well thought out people around here, and of course the opposite -- and at this point, you're really just trolling the latter crowd.

Anyways... I bet the FJC is a pretty cool ride for those that choose it.

(Enough of the "mag racing" around here already... yeesh! )

Edit: And if you get the Elise, be sure to swing by CA and let me take it around the block...

I think comparing the Fit to an FJ is kinda like comparing a Canary to a Gorilla...it doesn't really make sense. I love the FJ, in fact before the Fit Came out I figured I'd get an SI Hatch or a sporty SUV...like the FJ. But regardless of how much we love our Fits, it doesn't mean he's right or wrong for choosing to buy his wife a different car(upon her request)...THe FJ is goingto be a very cool 'Ute!

Some people buy vehicles for substance and some for image. If you go on image you can cross shop any class of vehicle.

On substance the FJ and the Fit are worlds apart.

On image, they are both new, different looking, vehicles.
