At the risk of actually getting this thread back ON TOPIC (gee, what a concept), the NHTSA page does show side impact ratings and a side impact video. Maybe they updated it since the start of the thread.
Side impact is five stars for the front, three for the rear.

I don't think I would be too worried sitting in the back seat of a Fit or any other car. Most modern cars are pretty safe. 3 of 5 stars isn't a death trap or anything. The only reason I really care about the 5 stars is it might be good for insurance costs.
