Adopt a Honda...

I'm so sick of seeing crap like this...

Hopefully one day I will be able to save someone's disaster of a car and build something half decent.

I'm right there with you. I can't help but every time I see these half-ass jobs. In fact, I see more of these than I do finished pieces of work. So sad.

By the way, I love your screen name. Just rolls right off the tongue for us "thirtysomethings".

I dunno, any burnout that ends with the wheelwell plastic on fire doesn't really strike me as an "attempt" LOL There are dozens of adoptable Hondas out my way, most of them on used car lots. The BUY HERE, PAY HERE!!!!! Type.

So euro taillights are those ones that look like they have mylar in them? I have never heard that term, but yeah, they are hideous.

Although not necessarily hideous, the most annoying tails are the ones that are all red. All the better to make it confusing to tell which direction someone is intending to go when they use their turn signal at the same time as they start tapping their brakes. If only turn signals had to be amber.

I'm pretty sure we have regulations for that down here...I've never seen taillights all red.

You must not get out very much. Chrysler, for one, hasn't used amber rear turn signals in years (my '79 Omni had them, but my Shelby Charger, Shadow and both Neons all came from the factory with red rear turn signals). I don't have the relevant federal motor vehicle spec, but I'm pretty sure it says that rear turn signals can be red OR amber.

It's true, they rarely let me out by myself, even when my meds are just right! My shrink just doesn't understand me...

But my evil twin gets out all the time!!! I'm pretty sad about that!!!

(I think it's cause I just don't notice most cars except the Fit and a few others like Lambos and Ferraris, Maseratis, Maybachs, etc.)

Yeah, Euro cars (and most GM) have amber rear turn signals because it's a European requirement. I think it may have been a requirement here in the 70's, but I suspect it was overturned by the Reagan administration along with repealing the regulation requiring speedometers to read no higher than 85 MPH.

It seems that, because it's optional in the U.S., manufacturers go by their aesthetic judgement instead of what makes more sense.

As for Chrysler, I just sold my 2002 PT Cruiser. It has amber rear turn signals. That's actually one of the things I liked because I knew that people would be able to see that my turn signal was on while I was using the brakes.

Not all Euro and Asian cars follow suit, either. I've seen Hondas that are all red, as well as VW's. Makes me want to bitchslap the manufacturer.
