its obvious the fit is top dog when it comes to 5 door subcompacts. the fit even beat out the highly anticipated ford fiesta (other comparo thread).

I'm sure we're all biased in favor of the Fit, but I do have to agree with comments on the video at YouTube: It was not a fair comparison. They stated in the video that they chose the lowest version of each car, requiring just an automatic and A/C to be in the round-up. Putting the Fit Sport in there isn't fair. It looks far better than its own base version, so to compare it to the base version of those other cars is just...suspicious.

Another thing I found odd was that this was a video from Ontario, yet they're talking in MPG and MPH.

The people making the video need to touch up their editing and speaking quality, too. If they keep at it I'm sure they can overtake Motoroweek.

Hmm, that's a good point about the base. Though the price would go down too. And I think even in base complectation, FIT would win the comparison.

8.3 seconds sounded suspicious. The Auto would be a good bit slower. Notice that the steering wheel has no paddles, and they are careful not to show the shift lever. ;-)

They didn't talk about the noisy cabin on the highway and more or less comfortable seats on the fit (especially for tall drivers). I would put it first too however, but it's not cheap and it that category the price matters. We bought the fit mostly because it was a 2009 (bought in march 2010 I think) so there was a 2000$ discount, and no similar offers on the versa or yaris, since they sold all the 2009 a while ago. Also the versa isn't fun to drive but is really cheap, roomy and enough well finished inside. The yaris 5 doors imo is a good challenger to the fit (when you can get some discounts), except for the trunk volume. I drive both fit and yaris often (at my job the delivery cars are all yaris 3 doors).
The usdm 2010 yaris is really well equipped too, A/C, EBD, TC, VSC, ABS, 6 airbags. Cars at my job got none of that.

They compared all the features of the Fit Base model with the base models of the other cars. Just because they used the Sport model is nothing to question, other than the look. The base AT and Sport AT, would behave and be comparitive equally in the information they were reporting and comparing. They didn't talk about cruise control comparisons, keyless entry, etc. from what I can recall.

In the video they described the Fit as a "commuter car."

Ours is a "cross-country car."

I am willing to put up with the noise and the wind sensitivity to get a car that will carry a load (that guy in the video didn't come close to filling his Fit), and the Fit won't empty my wallet at the pump.

I like the VSA, too, and since that only comes with the navi, I take the navi, too. Never drove a car with a navi before, so if Honda's is substandard I don't know the difference.

The Fit is good enough to stand on its own merits. The video recognized that, but otherwise it was an exercise in conventional automotive thinking, and the Fit is an unconventional car.

Cheers.

They also made references to the exterior appearance of the cars. If that's the case, of course a Fit Sport looks best. And when they compare prices, they used their Sport price.

my point of view, the review is not too fair, hatch vs non hatch is like to different category. non hatch cars usually ride more comfortably than hatches right ?

after all, buyers pick the cars, not reviewers pick for u ..

When he called the Accent the original king of the Subcompact market, do you think he might have gotten it confused with Hyundai's original offering, the Excel?

Even hatch the fit came first so they didn't think it was a too bad ride. And the fit is still the most firm of all the hatchbacks versions of the cars in the review (I tried them all)

In 2005, when the yaris, versa and fit were not out yet.
