Im definitely counting my lucky starts, especially after seeing how close the damage on the hood was to my windshield. All I can say is Ill probably be frequenting the Classifieds sections for various bits and pieces as I work to repair my fit.

Some one was on your side on that one.

First Fit to be destroyed by a tornado that I've heard of.
Glad to hear you and yours got through it - the car is repair/replaceable.

Can't even imagine going through something like that. That's one serious dent in the bonnet.

A car is replaceable, a life is not. Yeah it sucks it will be coming out of your pocket but just be thankful you are alive.

...went and got a few estimates today. One of the people actually said it looked like a total loss when he first saw it, but somewhere between 4-6 thousand for insurance estimates, it should definitely be a lot less since Ill be paying for it myself, one of the garages I went to was very willing to work with me to get it done for cheaper. I have to wait until monday because the building that collapsed insurance might actually cover it, not to mention our county might be labeled a federal disaster area, not sure if that matters though.

In just missed one on the 13th of August while heading to Dallas... Tornadoes are a common occurrence in this area... It's a wild sound they make isn't it.

Definitely, The roar was really deafening, I couldn't even hear my back glass explode. On a related note, does anyone have a spare rear passenger door shell lying around?

Thinking about the fact you had just lowered your car I can't help but wonder if doing so may have prevented you from becoming sucked up and part of the fly debris like the stuff that damaged your car.... It reminds me of getting up one morning and placing sand bags on the corner of a small bunker and that corner being the spot that took a direct hit from an enemy rocket before noon.... Was it a coincidence or something else?

Coincidence does not simply happen. It is all for a reason. We are just too small to see it.

Glad to hear that you and your wife were OK. So sorry about your Fit but it could've been worse. You have damage that can be repaired and made as good as new - let us know how it goes.

Yes, God wanted him to lower his car.

(Now what if the devil causes a flood?)

glad you didn't get a 2x4 between the eyes. That was close, markielowski.

...yeah, he sent me a fax. But in all seriousness, I am open to the ideas of miracles, and this storm sent trailers toppling, so I definitely feel as if the springs may have played a part in me staying firmly planted to the ground.

Finally Getting around to posting up some pics of the fixed fit. The guy did a great job, only took him like 4 days. He worked through the weekend charged me exactly what he quoted, even though he had to do extra work straightening/rebuilding the hood latch system.

I dont think so, I think he just buffed a lot of the minor scratches out, painted the new hood, blended the paints where the panels met, and clear-coated that whole side. Im not exactly sure, but thats pretty much what he told me.
