n00b question: window visors?

Yo guys! I've been wondering for a while what the point of window visors is besides changing the look of the car. I can think of a couple of reasons they could be cool, but I just wanted to make sure, haha.

They can change airflow, give a little of a shade ledge effect...

I'd say they're mostly appearance items, though.

we put a set on my brother's dakota. the big thing it does is let you crack the windows and not worry about water getting into the car overnight

Perhaps to block off rain that would stick to your windows and hamper your visibility?

I'm also thinking, since this increases the fontal surface area, wouldn't it cause some drag?

also while you drive you can crack the windshields if you need to help defrost the windows. Or smoke.

I think it can also reduce wind noise or keep rain from getting in while driving.

reduce wind noise when window is cracked.
good ventilation during rainy season and when parked.

I have a set on my IS300... I love'em. It keeps the car cooler inside during the hot days, and allows the car to have fresh air all the time instead of stale mustered air when you get in.

It adds shade , you can crack your window while parked out side in the heat, open the window alittle in the rain so the windows dont fog & for you smokers it adds a vent . Oh and it helps for when a car theft wants to prey the window open, they have to break or take off the window visor

i dont think wind noise is noticably decreased or not
they keep rain out if you crack it open
you can ash out the window while its raining and not worry about getting wet
but while driving wind will get in the back of the window and rain will get in if the window is down enough

with the mugen visors, wind noise it cut down quiet a bit and the aerodynamics thing does work.. the way it's shaped funnels air into the car
