First Fit on Deals Gap (Tail of the Dragon)

Last week a friend and I went up to TN and had the luxury of driving through some sweet mountain passes.
If you haven't heard of Deals Gap, google it.
11 miles, 318 turns, no ingress/egress. That's right, I said 318 turns.
I must say, any more power than what we had wouldn't have done us any good. The Fit's performance was fantastic. At one point, we even ended up pushing some motards (of course, they weren't going nearly as fast as they could).
The stock handling and acceleration (surprising, I know) was quite perfect for those tight turns.
To all you Fit drivers, Deals Gap gets four thunbs up from us.
anyone gone up to vegas with the Fit yet ? im going there next month and im very uncertain about that one long hill.... my accord was able to make it .. slowly, now with the Fit, im really worried.
im heading there on evening of the 3rd, hoping to arrive there around 11ish pm. tho im uncertain how long im staying there :P
if you see a taffy white with cali plates and tinted windows, that just might be me

It's interesting you drive a WRX, Bitter. I just sold a stock 02 to purchase my Fit.
On the roads I was on, all the power the WRX has would have done me little good.
In all honesty, I think my times would have been better in the Honda than they would have been in the Subaru.
The fastest we could really ever get was approximately 35 mph, and with the tight handling of the fit, we could hold much of that speed through the corners.
Good times.
5 speed, bytheway. Nice transmission, especially coming out of the WRX.

But I agree with you. The handling ability on the Fit is great, being so light. The quicker steering rack is also something I envy from the Fit. The Fit, out of the box, is an incredibly nimble car. And I think someone mentioned this earlier, but I would take a Fit to autocross over a WRX any day.
However, I spent the previous weekend taking the Fit on a mini-roadtrip up and down California. And I will have to say that the Fit left me missing the WRX. Both are great cars but at the time I just prefer the WRX. To each his own.

Another thing... I will always envy the mileage from a Honda.
