Big increase in number of Fits

Hey Fitfreakers,

Recently I have noticed a big increase in the number of Fits here in our town in New Mexico. We had 6 only for the last 2 yrs, and in the last two weeks....we now have 12.....this is on the road.

We do not have any dealerships here....so they are not just test driving these....they own them. Lots of opinions on why the increase, but there are obvious reasons:
1. Increase in gas prices....that can hurt in a guzzler.

2. Scare out of Japan....Fits may be hard to find in about 3 months, but right now there are lots of them on the lots.

3. People have finally realized how great a car the Fit really is.

Anyone else notice the increase in sightings?

I'm seeing a ton of base model fits in my neck of the woods. Maybe its gas prices, but they're everywhere now.

Which brings me to a question. When I was in getting my LMS fix, I walked around the lot and found a base model fit, auto, with only the Ipod dock added to it, for 17,400 before tax. Mine was nearly 100 dollars less, WITH tax. Are they really marking them up that much?

I still see more GDs than GEs around here, but the number of GEs on the road seems to be increasing lately.

I'd say that fuel prices have more to do with it than anything. The average car buyers have no idea that there will be a shortage of certain Hondas in the next couple of months.

Ya tons of them here in Va Beach area. I pass 3 GD's on the way to work but most are the GE's There is about 12 at work now and one of these are the dealer installed Mugen in black Nice.
4/5/11 $3.63 87 @ 10% E really is showing us where the dollar is headed with it being printed faster than newspapers!

I used to be the only vivid blue fit in my area, but now I'm not... makes me sad.

Don't see many Fits in the rural county where I live. But in Chapel Hill there is a Fit on every block. After the Prius, the Fit is the biggest hit among car buyers motivated by saving energy.

The Fit is an upscale enviro car at a budget car price.

I was recently staying a long weekend at the Westin Lombard outside Chicago. It seemed like every 5th vehicle in the lot was a Honda Fit. Furthermore, 4 or 5 of them had JDM dot Fit emblems!
