tire pressure

This may have already been discussed to death but I could not find it in search. The dealership put the pressure at 42 psi (15 inch tire size) the tires state that 44 is the max psi. I am sure they did this to boost mileage. So taking advantage of this thing called forums...what do you keep yours at? My monitoring light is on but that does not worry me. I know that higher pressure will increase my mpg incidentally but 42 seems kind high what do you all think?

On my 2011 Sport currently run all tires at 33... which is the recommended pressure on the door jam sticker.

Dealer had them set at 32... I notice it does ride slightly harsher at 33.

If I'm not mistaken, I've heard the cars ship with the tire pressures high to prevent flat spots from the long days spent on the boat. My suspicion would be that your dealer forgot to bring them back down. It would follow that they didn't set up the TPMS, either. You'll know if the light comes on in ~20 miles.
Edit: just reread the OP. Yup, the light's on. Assuming this is the light that says "TPMS", not the one that looks like a cross section of a tire, that would mean they skipped the part of the PDI involving the tires and I'd investigate whether they skipped anything else.

Boba you hit the nail on the head, I bet! I just remembered a dealer check off sheet that only on the first page had the items checked off and initialed. They forgot to turn to page 2 and then page 3 I am going to find that list Thanks for the tip and reminding me

No problem. This thread has the PDI for 09 and 10 Fits: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-info-ge8.html
It's probably the same for 11s.
