Me: "I'm interested in test driving the new Ford Fiesta."

Sales kid, younger than me: "That's a great car. Are you interested in the four or six cylinder?"

Me: "Um ... four?"

Sales kid: "All wheel drive?"

Me: "Hmm .... not today."


I went on and got talked into test driving a terrible Ford Focus which had one power window and the rest crank. Handling was mediocre and 2nd gear was too short.

The poor kid knew nothing about Ford, so I spent 20 minutes telling him all about the One Ford initiative, and how Ford is importing it's best European ideas to the US to keep the brand competitive, and how the Fiesta has been sold in the UK for eons.


Later that day ...

The old "sales manager" ...

"That Focus sure is a great car, isn't it? My wife has a BMW Z3 ... that Focus handles just like it!"

 

The salesman who sold me the Fit was outstanding. Young kid, knew what he was talking about and didn't really even try to sell me the car. Just gave me the keys and said "drive it wherever you want". Even followed me in his personal car to my house so I could give him the check for the downpayment.

The Nissan dealership I visited while shopping though (Nissan Versa):

Me: "It needs to be a manual"
Her: "I don't know if we have any manual hatchbacks"
Me: "I'm not getting an auto"
*30 minutes of walking through the lot looking for one*
Her: "Don't you have kids? Why do you need a manual?"
Me: "Just because I have kids doesn't mean i'm dead inside"
Her: "...How about a Juke? They're pretty cool."
Me: "Is it free?"
Her: "..."
