Dealer definitely did not try to sell me anything else. I had to pay the delivery fee and prep. The latter consists of putting it up on a rack, adding bulbs, doing a 300 point check. Salesman said Honda provides them with a CD complete with a data base that they have to fill out before the cars can leave the lot. If I wanted car mats, that was extra, with a 10% discount -- big deal. I ordered on line for a much better discount.

What is San Antonio giving you, MSRP or less than that?

Basically they are giving me the same price as if I were to go online and build one myself (which is basically what I did) plus the $500 destination fee and my $250 deposit.

I don't have the sheet the Dodge dealer in Frisco gave me in front of me right now, but the starting price for the sport M/T was around $15.1 (which if I remember correctly is also MSRP), plus they were wanting to add a $500 destination, $500 deposit and a $500 pinstriping, etc. like I mentioned earlier. I just got a bad vibe from Frisco and most of the dealers around here.

My husband said he looked on AutoTrader last night and found a Fit Sport A/T going for around $23k...now that's nuts!
See if this link works: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/search...5407&x=68&y=12

Well I hope you get the car you want. You know that deposit is not on top of the price though.. it is deducted from the cost when the car arrives. Plus it's refundable by law.

$500 destination is standard; you should have to pay that with any dealer, unless they can't move the car off the lot and they're discounting. Honda's MSRP (depending on where you look) for the Fit Sport M/T is $15,720 I believe. This includes the price of $15, 200 or so + the 500 destination. A $500 deposit is standard as well, but remember, that gets deducted from the price of the car. It's not like extra you're paying. And I wonder if you could have gotten the pinstriping knocked off with some haggling.
If you're happy with SA, that's good. But remember, there are many dealerships out there (11 or so in Dallas?) so don't judge them all by one. BTW, what were your "build" options? I wasn't aware that there were any choices for building your own other than color, tranny, and base vs. sport, but I haven't used that feaure on the Honda website.

I understand the destination fee and the deposit...that's not the issue. But why should I have the dealership tell me what I have to put on my car and then charge me $500 for it when i don't want it. That's the bullshit part of it. The whole part of buying a new car is getting what you want. We visited around 6 dealerships total. We didn't get into the details with some, because some salesguys were incompetent and acted as if there was no way for us to get a 5spd sport...that it was nearly impossible. We didn't mess with those dealerships because we knew they were full of it too.

As far as MSRP...honda's website has the M/T sport starting at $15,170 and the A/T sport at $15,970. When their website gives you your total they add in the destination charge. So my M/T Fit came to around $15.8. Of course this is without TT&L.

Anyway, I was very pleased with the salesman from the S.A. dealership. He cut right to the chase and gave me my price and didn't try to throw any B.S. my way. I really don't understand why the dealerships that we sat down and talked with couldn't do the same.

As far as build options, you can choose their aftermarket wheels (instead of the sport alloys), shifter knob (which is one I added on), floor mats (another thing I added on), all-season floor mats, cargo tray, cargo cover, cargo net, sport muffler, sport grille, nose mask and Music Link to name some.

Thumbs up In Nashville...

I had the best experience I've ever had buying a vehicle, and I've done it a half-dozen times. I went to both Crest Honda and Trickett Honda. The former wanted to sell nothing without 18" wheels, pinstripe, limo tint, aftermarket leather interior (yes!) and fartcan exhaust. Trickett simply said they "could get whatever I wanted" but they weren't planning on ordering any FiTs for their stock, as they didn't believe it would be anyone's first choice, or the smartest buy any given customer could make. they were really concerned with teh new Civic.

But then I went to Darell Walltrip Honda down in Cool Springs. I said what I wanted (white Sport AT) and I sat there while the manager ordered it. It did take three weeks for it to make it over from Japan, but I consider that a small price to pay for a Japanese car that's actually built in Japan, instead of in Mexico with Canadian parts.

The asked them to take off the front licence plate holder that had a dealer advertising plate on it and to take off the dealership sticker from the back, and the salesman did it while I was signing the paperwork. Brian Lambert was the salesman, and he was awesome. Really down-to-earth. I paid MSRP, and not one penny more. Of course the finance mgr. has to offer the extended warranty and prepaid service contract (both of which I politely declined, and he said "No problem." and moved on), but there was never a mention of undercarriage sealant or fabric protector or pinstripe or any of that garbage.

Really highly recommend Darell Walltrip Honda of Nashville, TN and salesman Brian Lambert.

It would be nice if all the dealerships would do what Darell Walltrip Honda did for you...that's awesome. If San Antonio comes through all the way to the end i will definitely spread the good news about them too.

I must have stepped on someone's toes here. So, what dealership are you from? Hopefully not one that makes customers pay $500 for pinstriping and scotchguard.

Anyway, I never said these cars were easy to get, but at the same time they are not impossible to get. The day I ordered my M/T Sport the dealership I ordered from had actually got two M/T Sports in, but they were already spoken for. So, if these dealerships are still getting them in, how does it make it impossible to get one? If a salesman is going to say they are impossible to get when I know for a fact other dealerships are getting them in, then yes he is incompetent and not doing his research.
If it ends up that I have to wait for the 08 model so be it, either way I will get my M/T Sport.

I saw last weeks allocation list...the MT Sports are out there. They may not all be in the state of TX, but they are out there and I am willing to wait. I'm not worried about it...I found a decent dealership and decent salesman that I am happy to give business to.

It's not 'impossible' for sure but the dealers like to lock you in when they really have no idea when they'll get one. I avoided putting a deposit down until I finally found a dealership that said "It's being built, we have the VIN, it'll be here in 3 weeks or so".

Did the SA dealer give you a timeline?

They gave me the standard timeline of three months. I'm in no hurry though and am willing to wait. I just placed my order less than a week ago, and if I have to I will check in the with the dealer from time to time and check on the status.

Oh by the way, forgot to menton...when i went back over to the Honda dealer in Frisco to see if they would price match or beat S.A. offer the Sales Manager told me he couldn't beat their price, but he would be able to get a M/T Sport in by the end of the month. Now he is either lying straight to my face or they indeed know they are getting more in or can trade with other dealerships to get what I want. The games the dealerships play just amuse me.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I told the dealer I was not picky with color. But my top three were Vivid Blue Pearl, Taffeta White or Nighthawk Black Pearl. I really would be happy with just about any of the colors.

As a sign maker and pinstriper I would be interested in knowing what the price they asked for just some generic striping would be. Perhaps I am not charging enough.....$500....hmmmmm? Considering that I can do the average decal job on a car in less than an hour and just pinstripes in less than half; and that materials cost on ~30' of striping is about $20 - $30. Scams everywhere....

You could probably call any of the dealerships (at least here in the Dallas area) and they could tell you the exact charge for just pinstriping. The $500 was for the complete package that included the scotchguard, pinstriping and one other thing. Yeah it also seems some dealerships paint on the pinstriping and others use vinyl. David McDavid of Frisco paints on their pinstriping. I also have a friend who does signage and vinyl and when he tells me how much something costs to make compared to what some businesses charge, I just can't believe it.

Yeah almost anything the dealer adds is guaranteed to be marked way above what it costs them.

It's good you're getting a Fit, no matter where from. You might want to make sure the SA dealer is also giving you a good deal on your build options/accessories (I think of build option as Navi, keyless, etc. and these more as accessories). You can get the shifter knob from a Honda dealer online for around $34 and regular floor mats for around $70, all-weather mats for around $80. Dealerships I spoke with wouldn't match these prices, so I just wanted the car bare and planned to add the accessories on later. The dealers will mark-up wherever they can!

I'll have to check on those. I tried to keep my add ons to a minimum, so hopefully the could maybe get the car a little sooner. So a shift knob and floor mats are all that I added, but if it comes without those things i will be fine with that. I'll just do like you said and order them separately.

i dont sell vin etching, i dont sell scotchgard. want to buy scotchgard? try walmart.

you said there is a dealership in texas with 2 honda fit manual?? funny, according to honda locator, no one has 2 honda fit manual. even if they are sold, if they arent rdr, they will show up on honda locator.

honda locator shows zero honda fit in transit in sport and manual transmission for your entire state.

the real fact is honda fit sport in manual is not easy to get, you have no clue how things work.

you saw last weeks allocation? funny, since when did honda do allocation by weeks?

want to know the real allocation by the month? how about 200 fit manual sport for this month for the entire country? guess how many will actually show up for your great state of texas?? 5? 7?
