Hey guys, so i never figured out what's best for my friend the A/C, in order to keep it in top shape for over 180 000 miles.

What's best :

1-ALWAYS keep the A/C on, summer and winter

2-make it work from time to time in the winter

3-NEVER use it in the winter

4-NEVER use it at all(lol)

I'm asking high mileage guys.

a/c is most healthy when cycled on a normal basis. not using it at all is a good way to kill it prematurely.

 

Agreed, cycle the AC once in a while in
the cooler season.

I do that with mine down here in Texas
during the "winter" months.

 

Just leave it on to prevent windows from misting up, the A/C will cycle automatically by itself anyways, its not always running.

Kill it for a bit if you have windows down, during "in between" times, when its not frigid outside, or hot.

You can use it even on high mileage as you as you pay attention on the maintenance. Have it run at least ten minutes per week. Some mechanics were specializing the job on having the proper maintenance for their A/C. on the other hand, A/C condenser is something you need to pay attention since it is the most vital part on your A/C.
