Name This Sound Thread: Squeeeeek when I turn off ignition?

So when I turn off the motor, sometimes I hear a "Squeeeeek" coming from the drivers side door area. It's pretty loud, my 4 year old can hear it from the backseat. I'm not hitting any switches, knobs or buttons when it happens. It almost sounds like a release of air pressure or something, but I have no idea why something like that would happen in the cabin when I turn the motor off

It doesn't really bother me that much and I don't really care enough to take it in to get it looked at, just wondering if anybody else has had this happen? Has this already been discussed? Maybe it's my kid messing with me?

The throttle body is on the driver's side. Only a guess, but maybe you are hearing the air rushing past the throttle plate as the ecu closes it at shut off.

Going to say it doesn't sound like it's coming from the engine bay, I can hear it right next to my left ear. Like it's coming out of the door somewhere.

Also, it doesn't happen all the time. Only once in a while.

I'll play with the throttle idea though because i'm curious. Anyone else?

I had a door lock motor do that before on a different vehicle, turned out it needed to be adjusted (tried to pull too far instead of just far enough to unlock the door). Do your doors unlock when you shut your Fit off? If so, then I'd put my money on that...

It's a door-lock solenoid. Mine rear driver-side does it too (set to unlock when shifting to park on an auto).

Thought I was passing gas when I first heard it.

It's a common noise. Don't know if it signifies anything like early failure. I chose to ignore it rather than nag the dealer (and it would probably never make that noise with them listening). The door lock mechanism including the solenoid is about $90 online.

HAHA exactly why I won't go.

Thanks guys, that makes total sense. Yes my doors are set to unlock when the ignition is turned off.

I'll just deal with it for now, doesn't bother me that much.

I would wait until it begins to be more consistent, then look into repairing. The solenoid is beginning to fail. I know someone that learned the hard way

That's pretty sad, the car's only got 25k miles and one year on it... i'll probably make an appointment within the next few months when it happens consistantly so I don't get a "could not replicate problem" from a dealership tech haha
