Glad I bought the locking lug nuts...

This poor guy was siting on the corner of a dealers lot on the intersection of two busy streets here in Worcester, MA. The place is well lit and visible from far away. Who ever did this had some serious balls to pull this off. They took the wheels and smashed the drivers side window. Doesn't make me feel to great living a few blocks from there.

Poor Fit! Terrible thing to have happen - desperate times we live in for people to do this to someones elses property. I am ordering a motion sensor alarm for my garage - it is wireless but hope it would be enough to scare off someone. A guy I know from Huntington went away for about 3 weeks due to his job and came back to find his tool box was stolen, they took the body kit off his NSX and scratched the Acura while getting the tool box out of the garage.

GE Fit wheels do look pretty good on EG Civics, I will say.

Arrrgghhh, disgusting! My Fit has to live outside, no garage. I have the locking lug nuts for what that's worth (not much apparently). And I read that the thieves, who operate in packs, can have the wheels off in under a minute or something like that.

WOW!!! Tough neighborhood... Good way to upgrade tires/wheels package... Still cheaper than losing the car though

Wow. That sucks. Sitting on bricks is what we call it around here when people get their wheels stolen. I'm glad I got lock nuts too. Ghetto is everywhere, doesn't matter where you live.

Sadly those locks are only visual deterrents, not anti-theft. It only keeps honest people honest. If they really want your wheels, they'll get 'um.

Yeah I dont really have any faith in locking lug nuts, not if people are determined enough to get the wheels. Good thing is this guy got new shoes and the window repaired and is back on the market.

I lost the lug key for one of my other cars. you can easily get most off in a few minutes with a socket and a hammer. It was the first time I ever tried and got it done fairly easily.

Also, fellow Masshole here, whats up?

I saw it done on my brother's car... no, wasn't theft... just a flat tire when I was in a panic and couldn't find the key (which I did find after the Caltrans guy left @.@).

And that's what made me decide to never buy a lug nut lock without at least a free spinning sleeve. Sure it's not perfect... but it should be more than a plain lock.

lol is that a request?

Its pretty easy to find on the google, but basically take a socket you dont mind breaking, in a size that doesn't quite fit over the nut (12 points are easier). Hammer it on, hope it doesn't twist when you wrench on it! That's the easy part though. The hard part is getting the nut out of the socket to use it again If you have a bench vise it't not too bad. I didn't so I rigged up some contraption with an old brake rotor, a plumbing multi-tool wrench, a clamp, and a hammer and screwdriver or something
