sparkplugs???????

hey everyone,

thanx for da info on the 91 vs 95 octane. well its almost time for my 30000km maintenance and the dealer suggests a sparkplug change. i'm not sure wat type or brand the factory uses but i figure since i have to change then might as well upgrade. can anyone tell me wat type and brand would help my fit run better? my engine isnt modified but i just want to run smoother/better.

thanks

The spark plug change at 30K is only for non-platinum plugs. When I got my FIT a month ago I was told that the plugs didn't need to be changed until 100K miles.

Have they told you how much $ they want to change your plugs? I ask because often times dealers charge a lot for this, and it's truely unnecessary to pay a premium to have the dealer do the change. It's extremely easy to do, and worth learning how to examime old plugs, gap new ones, and install/tighten them properly.

All of the previous posters are RIGHT! For sure, don't let the dealer get their hands on your wallet for such a flimsy excuse.

With unleaded gas you can get almost lifetime mileage from plugs. I've taken our Matirx vehicles to 190K before changing plugs. Those vehicles are run at highway speeds, 250-325+ miles every day, on 87 octane fuel. STAY away from 10% ethanol, unless you like putting O2 sensors, catalytic converters and fuel pumps in your vehicles.

Even the oil and lube folks are begging me to put plugs in earlier than that, they are programmed to do it! I show them the detailed mileage and fuel logs we keep on the cars. The gas mileage doesn't drop and they run fine. the Toyota's have an iridium tipped plug that just won't wear out. Not sure about the Honda's but I think they are just platnum?

Not too sure...

As I recall they didn't cost as much to replace as the Trix plugs...I'd have to go pull the bills to check. Someone in here should know, but I don't think they're iridium...either way, no reason to change before 100K...unless...perhaps...that 100K was all city driving, lots of idle?

Even then, I'd sure like to see one first. Problem is, the serivce guys won't pull one just to look, if they (actually YOU pay) invest the labor, they want to replace!

how to know if spark plug got problem or lousier than original

problem goes like this just did 20k servicing and the workshop recommend change spark plug so ok then they change denso iriuium plugs... all 8 of them....

bt after the servicing i find tat i need to floor more to get respond... although my rpm go up fast.... (bt this possibility cos i change to light weight crank pully few wks before i did the servinging) and my millage drop frm 14-15 km/l to abt 13 km/l

should i go to honda parts shops n get a set of 8 original oem sparks n ask them change or i should keep the denso iriuium plugs
